My 2 cents about LoafWallet: Very new, not a whole lot of downloads or reviews yet - I would personally not trust my money with something that is so new unless it provides something *really* significant that others do not. And honestly, Jaxx (despite problems I've had with it in the past, especially with the whole Bitcoin Cash problem they had) really has everything you would need (and also it has multiple currencies, not just litecoin, so that makes it more of a swiss army knife kind a thing, instead of having a separate app for each currency, something like that is more useful.
But as I said, I switched to a Ledger Nano S, and I'm not looking back.

I know that's not exactly what you wanted, but if you want something light and portable (and secure, naturally), I would recommend going for Jaxx for Android. This really depends on the amounts you're planning to store. If amounts aren't that big then Jaxx can serve as a "virtual wallet", and can do that pretty reliably. Due to Android's sandbox features, the wallet file is protected from other apps on the device (unless you're rooted, but that's another story) - that's not the case with Jaxx for Windows which is less secure because of that (there were plenty of threads about that a while back). If, however, you intend on holding large sums on money then I would recommend going for a hardware wallet instead. I would recommend the Ledger Nano S which also comes with a Chrome app (to be replaces with a full stand-alone app at some point in the near future). That would be closer to what you initially requested and would be super secure.

Unlike Bitcoin Core that has a "zip" version which makes it a portable app, LiteCoin seems to only offer an EXE setup. I was able to use 7-zip to open the EXE though and extract the contents.

Once you open the litecoin-qt.exe, you will be asked where the blockchain should go.

This part may be tricky as the program wants a drive letter instead of a relative path. I haven't tested this part, so you'll have to try and see.

Well I use exodus because I control the private keys
And all the backups which I create go to a location
Controlled and accessed with my e-mail.

Personally I think its the best option.

I am using electrum ltc portable to save my coins and it is a great wallet to save your coins,since you said that you used the electrum version have you tried the portable version,other than that i am not sure about any other light weight litecoin wallets.

@talkbitcoin I had it with two different o.s. (W7 and W10) and I've searched the web and other's seem to have encountered it, too, so I consider it a bug.

@cissrawk like I said, with Exodus you have no control over the physical location of both the software and the wallet files, which is very unsafe, when the computer is online.

Thanks for all the answers. I understand there are few options available when it comes to desktop wallets. I suppose I should try Litecoin core. See how long the download of the blockchain is going to take.

hmm... dekstop wallet, you can try Exodus. Im using that and doesnt have problem(for now). Or maybe you can use LitecoinCore . Maybe that was good one too.

this is not an ELectrum bug dude. there is something wrong with your computer.
i am running both electrum and electrum-ltc and never had any problems.

try a clean live linux, and do it offline. that is also good for creating a cold storage wallet. and if your problem is still happening post in the electrum board, maybe someone can help you or open up an issue on github: https://github.com/pooler/electrum-ltc

don't give up so easily just because of small problem

I don't think there is a lite desktop wallet for Litecoin. Other than Litecoin Core and Electrum LTC, most litecoin wallets are online, and you don't hold your private keys. Also, the above mentioned wallets are in-browser featured (connected to the internet, which is not safe). And paperwallet for storage only.

Personally i would just download Core (less than 8gb) and wait for next gen Hardware Wallet (KeepKey, Ledger Nano S or Trezor....)
or online LiteVault, Block.io
or on iOS Loafwallet
or Paperwallet LiteAddress.org

I'm looking for a descent desktop wallet for LTC.

I tried Exodus, which looks great, but you have no control on the physical location where both software and wallet files are stored. Which, to me, is a big security issue. So, no Exodus for me.

I tried Electrum-LTC but, like Electrum for XBT sometimes does, it runs and disappears. I cleared ...\AppData\Roaming\Electrum-LTC, which seems to work for Electrum's bug, but it didn't work for this one. So, no Electrum-LTC for me.

I could use LiteCoin Core but does it download the whole blockchain? I was looking for some lite software.

Any good, lite and safe desktop wallet for litecoin?
