For the other musicians; what's your favorite instrument to play, and why?

synth ftw! Smiley whhat about you?

I like playing the piano the most; I've played on two Bosendorfers, if anyone knows what they are, and their sound is absolutely fanfreakingtastic

If btc goes up you may be able to afford one of those Smiley

That would only work if I had the initial money to invest into BTC, haha. I'm a broke college student; can't invest if I don't have anything to lose Sad

Well maybe one day Smiley

I'm an avid musician...when I have time in the future, I wanna get a studio for recording purposes. I like to think I can sing, but that's obviously opinionated. I play the piano, clarinet, violin, and I'm in the process of learning the guitar
If you just wanna record with pretty decent quality, buy some kind of external sound card! I've got an "AudioBox USB" that's a few years old. Earlier this autumn I recorded a song with it, and it turned out really good (the only bad thing was that the instruments I had available at the time was cheep crap, which of course had an effect on the overall sound)!

How much does that cost? Which editing software do you use? :O
~250$, but then it came with the Studio One software. And it was a few years ago in Sweden (stuff tends to be quite expensive here). According to this site it's 99$ right now: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/presonus-audiobox-usb-2x2-usb-recording-system
If you wanna record clarinets or violin you'll have to buy a good microphone (which you can probably find pretty cheap as well).

For that project I used Garageband with Logic Pro 8 sounds installed (for mastering, distortion and such). With some tweaking and mastering it turned out really good!
(It was a school project, and my teachers were really surprised when I told them that the song wasn't recorded in a (semi) professional studio, but on an Audio Box! Cheesy)

That's not too expensive, actually. I'll consider purchasing one when I get a school schedule that doesn't take up too much time haha. My friend has a good microphone that he says he might let me borrow occasionally; awww you have a Mac. I love GarageBand...one of the only programs I'd consider getting a Mac for. There just isn't any equivalent for Windows
The software I got with it, "Studio One" is not bad though. I just never really learnt how to use it (one reason is because my english back then was pretty bad, so I couldn't really understand the guides and manuals)!
Haven't used it in many years now, I don't even have it installed. But it's available for windows! Smiley
(Not really an equivalent to GarageBand with all its simplicity, but it's still a good studio program!)

I'll take a look at it! Thanks!

Ya! I sing, and I play guitar/bass mainly. I love messing around with analog style synths and whatnot too. I've been writing and recording for about 15 years now, since I was a kid. Tryin' to make my career work out here in Hollywood, looking to focus on licensing mainly to generate income. It's been a tough road, I suffer for my craft. Being a starving artist is not fun. Have to make big sacrifices for big rewards though right? It's all fodder for the lyric book...

I don't know if I can really track down a 'favorite'... I love so much different music, so many different genres. I'd have to say David Bowie is at the top with Mike Patton. Been listening to alot of Bad Brains and The Roots lately... Wink

Analog synths! Which ones r u into right now?
Also, have you though about adding your btc wally address to your soundcloud/youtube profiles? I've done it and it sort of works, don't get that many donations but better than nothing, right? I'm thinking btc donations could be the future for artists, even if spotify have decided music shouldn't be worth more than a few cents, there are real fans out there who want to support their favourite bands.

I really love the MicroKORG, MS-20 and almost anything MOOG Smiley

Yeah, I have a donation page on my website. I've recently added my BTC, Opal, HYP, etc addys to my soundcloud page. I have YET to receive a penny for the music I do. I've only had my material stolen from me. For example, right now - a project I wrote and sang for is being sold on Amazon/ITunes right now w/o my permission. Plus there's a music video of me on youtube that I didn't authorize or sign any papers of any sort. The guy that's doing it was a jealous ex band mate who couldn't play his instrument. The leader of the band fired him and he took it out on me. Labels were looking at the band, and they only wanted me - so I got punished. I can't do anything because he's literally a millionaire - any defense I'd mount would end up causing even more pain in an already sore area. I'm hoping that I can rectify the situation at some point. It really kills me.

I have NO musical talent at all. I respect musicians and their ability to focus so much time on a beautiful skill.

The Piano is the greatest sounding instrument ever created. Wished i could play it.
Why don't you take a class then?

I am a musician, singer/songwriter and pianist.   The largest arena I ever performed in was at the Staples Center.  I sang the National Anthem at a LA Kings game.  Smiley  I have done some studio work.  But usually I just play and sing on the weekends at my church.

My current favorite artist is: http://www.brittnicole.com/

I guess favorite of all time is U2 though.  I never get tired of U2.

Are you Brit Nicole? : )

No.  Not quite that talented, unfortunately.  Wink

Oh don't say that, you're probably way more talented than her, I didn't like her music, she's nothing special, cheer up : )

I play acoustic guitar. Not a professional or anything like that, but only enough to amuse myself.

I love to play Radiohead, Coldplay, Legião Urbana, Nirvana, Greenday, etc.

I used to play piano when since I was a kid, until my early teens, but its been ages I don't touch any other keyboard than my computer's, though.

 Cheesy

Why don't u get a synth? They're so much fun, and so much easier and fun to play if you have a piano background : )

Great to see a few musicians on here! You know btc donations could be the future for music, forget iTunes or spotify where we get 0.001 cent per stream, direct donations from real fans is the answer, even tiny donations can build up to something if there are enough of them, but we need btc to be widely adopted first.

Yeah, I'm a musician!
I am a singer (everything from classical opera to growl). I also play guitar (both electric and acoustic), bass, drums, piano, recorder, harmonica and probably a few more I've forgotten about.

Favorite band?
Hard question, but I've always been a big fan of punk music, so I have to say:
Lastkaj 14 (it's a swedish punk band lol).

Guitar player Smiley
No band, I play for myself.
I like music and I try to play song as it sounds, not some other way.
Even techno and fast songs I play sometimes.
Maybe it sounds funny, but my guitar knows how it sounds  Grin

I am a musician, singer/songwriter and pianist.   The largest arena I ever performed in was at the Staples Center.  I sang the National Anthem at a LA Kings game.  Smiley  I have done some studio work.  But usually I just play and sing on the weekends at my church.

My current favorite artist is: http://www.brittnicole.com/

I guess favorite of all time is U2 though.  I never get tired of U2.

Play the flute (used to be pretty good, now not so much from years of non-practice).
Also dabble in electronic music production, here are a few silly drum n bass remixes I made a few years back (before I knew much about mastering hahahaa):

Flash Gordon Theme (Dobbo's "Stick Your Hand in my Tramen you Blonde Motherfucker" remix
Diagnosis Murder DNB remix
Show Me Your Genitals (DNB Remix)

Cheesy Cheesy
