No official statement yet. The best you can hope for is information gleaned by the usual suspects on twitter. Those who cite "sources" but don't disclose. This whole thing is of a nature that can not be ascertained even by third party observers. Not until  someone has access to stealthy intercepts within the Chinese military heirarchy. On their part, the commies have completely blocked all news on the vent.

Indian sources have given different versions but both point to the fact that the CO and his men approached the illegal structures built during the earlier intrusion, ones which were agreed to be vacated as part of "de-escalation talks". At the ground level, tempers ran high and the Chinese decided to attack the unarmed and negotiating Indian side. Caught off-guard, the Indian side inflicted sufficient damage for the commies to resort to an information blackout. The Global times mentioned 43 "casualties" and then retracted the statement. Similar information was provided on the basis of intercepts.

The Indian soldiers have always given a tough fight despite all the posturing from the Chinese. 1967 Nathu La incident is testimony to that. This time, they have attempted the same treachery that they did in 1962. At the same Galawan valley area, an indian camp was attacked by an oversized Chinese contingent killing 33 men.

This is an incident which happened during night time in a narrow cliff overlooking a fast flowing Galawan river. Towards the end, both sides were towing bodies. The present intention from both sides would be to de-escalate. Only a joint official statement can shed light on what exactly happened.

No this is not harsh conditions, they say that armies did the handfight and pelted stones.

I read that they used wooden sticks with nails in them, sounds pretty medieval to me. So even if the injuires obtained are not deadly, withouth getting proper help and protection from the harsh conditions in those altitudes, it must be horrible.

China claimed 43 casualties, but how many of those actually died is not stated.

But don't forget, the region China is actually occupying was part of Tibet, another expansionary war of China in the past.

This whole area is up in the himalayas next to a glacier. I'm not familiar with the exact coordinates of where this happened but high altitude by itself is pretty bad, also when you're that high up and next to a gigantic glacier it tends to be cold.

I want news from neutral country as I am unable to buy some story that without any gunshot 20 were killed.

The harsh conditions can easily increase the death toll, even without guns involved. The high altitude means your body gets less energy for everything and the extreme cold means that you need more energy add the two and easily survivable things will kill you in your sleep.

Even just one factor, hypothermia has claimed multiple lives in a subtropical climate (Florida) were rangers in training couldn't get dry and died of the cold. In freaking florida.

So even without getting shot, just getting injured in a physical fight the adverse conditions can finish you off quite nicely.

Or maybe they're hiding what hapenned to prevent war.
