If you are on an iPhone 4. Do not update. I did that and my iPhone turned into a big pile of sluggish meh.
I wish I could go back to IOS 6 but apparently there is no way for a non-tech savvy person like me.

IMO, iPhones are better than Androids. I just don't feel like I have quality in my hand when a phone has Android. That is just me though. Then there is the iPhone 5C... No commet. But I do agree that they need to come up with new features. They're doing just one at a time right now, and it's not enough.

Android is still better.

But it honestly ain't... Android has to be built to support all kind of devices including low spec, thus limiting usability and features. Plus theres all different Android versions, with iOS you have a near universal system, understanding and usability.

just install android XD.... or get an android or wm phone.... your paying double the price for a name

iPhone is still superior to any other phone. I do understand where you are coming from though.
Apple is a specialist in persuading people to spend, spend and spend.

They have the best products on the market no doubt (coming from an Android user). But theres no more innovation, its all the same, (4s, 5c) different colors, slimmer? Wow. Thats just lame. Apple is not going in its former direction, what happened?

I do like the new features in iOS 7, but I haven't updated because I don't want to lose my jailbreak and I don't really like the icons. I do like that they are aiming for a flat design, they're just not doing it right. I eventually will have to update.

Not supported on iPod Touch 4th Gen, and I'm not upgrading to the 32GB 5th (16GB only has one camera) to get a narrower screen, so fuck it.

I've had it for a few days and I really like the overall look and feel (I'm using a 4S) - I've ordered the 5S so I knew it was going to be inevitable...  I don't like the design of the photos icon or the safari icon, but I really like the softer look, the option for stacking icons in folders on the home screen, the transition between screens is smoother...  yes, it looks like it was designed for a kid but that's fine with me!
Yeah the transition is a lot smoother and things seem to load faster too!
I guess i would trade the design for accessibility also..

I've heard of so much bugs in it. But, it's kind of unfair for me to comment as I can't be bothered to update it.

Some people wait for a few weeks until all the bugs are fixed before updating, which is a good idea if you're patient.

Not really.....

iPhone 5s slaughters all other phones benchmarks....!

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7335/the-iphone-5s-review/

Quote
Anandtech found that the iPhone 5s bested leading rival smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG G2 in each and every CPU performance test performed, often by a fairly wide margin. In some tests such as the Sunspider Javascript Benchmark and the Google Octane, the iPhone 5s’s margin of victory over most rivals was staggering.

I can't decide if I want to update my iphone to the new ios 7. I saw a few reviews and quite frankly, I kind of hate it. What do you guys think?
If you have a jailbroken device, do not update it, but if you have a legit one, why won't you update it?
Updates bring new fixes and security measures, so even if you think that it is useless, it is better to keep an updated system.
Good Point. I just updated mine and you guys are right.. the layout design looks a bit childish!
The materials in most of my apps are got bigger and I sort of appreciate that, but still, it just looks silly.
I do like the new lock screen though! And how you swipe up to close out of running apps instead of pressing the 'x' buttons.
Cheesy for an improved concept. Sad for the unprofessional design.

Interesting fact: The old '3d look' of IO6 was changed because the head of IOS Scott Forstall got P45'd and the new head of IOS Jony Ive wanted to implement his 'own design'. I personally haven't used IOS7 yet and in two minds at the moment whether to update or not. Eventually, I'll be forced to update though because all the apps will naturally update their designs to match 7 and will make 6 feel outdated. I am a big fan of IOS6 for sure but its becoming history as we speak.

So in a nutshell, don't want to use IOS7, looks like a step backwards, but will have to eventually.

Does the new ios has an android like task manager now ? The one that you can scroll between recent/active apps and swipe to kill them.

The old iOS has that already.
Is that the thing where you double click the home button to see recent apps and remove them? I actually like that more than Android's task management system.

My Ipad Screen cost $100 to replace after my toddler broke it.  My Samsung SII Cost $100 to fix after I bricked it trying to root it.  I don't believe Apple products cost more to fix.  I would argue they might cost less because there are so many after market parts in production.  Also, My Ipad 2 is better built then My Asus Tablet.  You can just feel the quality difference.

There is a wider variety of Android products than Apple. $100 Android tablets exist, while you wouldn't normally find a brand new iPad for $100. But yes, the quality, and specs are different.

I actually like the new design and feel of IOS 7.  (Might be just because I wanted a change However).  I have had winterboard and many different themes with my jail broke Ipad.  IOS 7 theme feels as good or better than several of the others I have tried.  Once IOS 7 is jailbroke I am sure more themes will again be available.

Android gives you a lot of choice in terms of customization. You can download launchers, widgets, themes, icons and so on from the Google Play store. The iOS store does not sell any of these, so there are really not many good designers making iOS designs.

I am much more ANDROID lover than an apple fan.  Open sourced android is more fun and does have more control.  But, jailbroken apples are very customizable and do have some advantages.  For example, I love pandora downloader for IOS.  Android does not have any equivalent app near as good.  The app allows me to "rip" a song being played and save it right to the internal memory.  All of the Android ones that attempt to offer the same compatibility fail miserably.  Another advantage to IOS is they support the devices with software updates for 3-4 years.  Android device manufacturers are lucky to give any software updates more than a year later. (Good thing Rooted phones can get more android updates)

I have both IOS and Android devices and like each one for different reasons.  I like android for the "Power User" reason and feel.  Changing roms and customizing at the system level is nice.  And being opensource means the developer community is much larger.  But a closed source IOS with simplicity like Apple does appeal to some.  I am glad we have manufactures competing for our business.  Gives us more (and better) products to choose from.  Apple has had good products.  Now the question is, has anyone tried a Microsoft tablet?

IMO Apple is great for the average user. Even cydia tweaks are simple to setup and use. Android is better for people who want to play with their devices more (which makes it better than iOS).

iOS - kids edition

Kids edition?  When jailbroken it works every bit as good as my rooted android tablet and phone running 4.3 (Jelly Bean).  In some respects its even better.  Why do you believe that?

Because they are over priced just to work like a android? They break so easy and cost so much to replace.

overpriced?

consider the fact that android is just a big key logger on an OS level so to speak. Everything you do on it, they store that information. What price do you put on privacy?

Why do you think the android OS is free... google makes money through the collection of personal information.

I'm not saying apple didn't leave backdoors for spying agencies, but for google its a whole new level.

Also Apple actually spends time on external and OS design. Most of the android phones are hard to look at (i guess if you're one of those people that puts on an even uglier cases over it, doesn't matter then Tongue ). The OS is just awful.. everything is crooked and not polished etc etc

I've had ios7 beta for about 3 months now and I have to say.. finally...

Before the official announcement of ios7 months ago, I was really hoping Apple would depart from the skeuomorphic interface style.

I can really appreciate what they did because as a designer myself, I actually made the difficult choice of steering away from skeuomorphism to a more flat and uncluttered style about 2 years ago now and was only waiting on Apple to do it Cheesy

The only thing I don't like about Android is that it's a resource whore. Look at the specs required for iOS/Windows Phone to run smoothly and compare it with Android.
