Hey Kodiak
please tell me how is positionned the label on the plastic film.
The reason why I am suspicious too is because in an industrial printing process, there is an automatic machine to put the label onto the plastic film.
But based on the original  photos I found on google, the one from the seller seems to be put manually.
meaning he sell fake magazines...

I bought also one from him.
And to be honest, I think we have been scammed!
I guess it’s too late to claim for a refund.
When I bought, I asked how many pcs left, he said : after you only 1.
But 1 month later he is still selling his piece of shit.
Nothing easy than copying a basic magazine indeed.
I contacted the Bitcoinmagazine.com.
Based on the serial number they say : it’s authentic.

But I would be curious what number you have from your side ??
If it’s a scam, I guess it’s always the same number:)

They are counterfeiting NES and N64 boxes for much less profit, I'm sure counterfeiting a magazine is even easier. However, based on the eBay user's history, unless he bought these as counterfeit and he didn't know, they are likely legit.

Are you sure, that your statement is correct?
Can you proof that?

I have dealt with that Ebay seller prior. I had an issue with damage, and he ignored me after sending multiple message. Based on the solid price of the item I purchased, I just sucked it up and moved on. I believe it would be pretty difficult and time consuming to fake a magazine, but I'm sure it's possible. This seller really drove down the price of Mag #1 alone. A year back, you'd be lucky if you could get a #1 for <$750. Due to his fire sales, you could land one for well below $500 if you negotiate. I do know there is someone in Canada that has cases of BTC mags stored. They reached out to me asking if I was interested in buying all of them, or helping to sell, but their premiums were way too high for a starting point. That being said, there are a few people out there with cases of these mags sitting on them. As for 1000 produced, I have never heard that....

Thanks for the replies...  I guess I'll just keep an eye on eBay and see they keep listing more and more magazines.  I agree that 30 isn't unbelievable, but that's all they've apparently sold so far.  If I check back in a month and there are 50, then I'll start to think something is up.

Interesting! There were only 1,000 Bitcoin Magazine #1 Issues ever released?

I'm pretty sure that's what they said on their website at one point. But as others have noted, it seems plausible that circulation was actually higher.

(Kind of like Ledger claiming the pizza ledgers were limited Tongue )

edit: to be clear, I have no evidence that ledger made more than 1,337 pizza ledgers. It just seems like there's a lot of them floating around.

Seller's feedback for reference: https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/tracy_monkey?filter=feedback_page:RECEIVED_AS_SELLER&_trksid=p2047675.l2560

I'd say their story about buying a bunch when it came out is probably true (I want to say I paid like $70 for mine several years ago) and had the option to buy more but bought BTC instead Tongue

There are definitely plenty of users here who have pulled the same move on various magazines or other collectibles. (Personally I have an embarrassingly large hoard of certain magazines being stored in my parent's basement.)

30 would be 3% of the total number in existence (1000) which isn't outrageous. If you scan the cover, back cover and spine (I'm assuming it's in the plastic wrap) I'm sure people here would be more than happy to take a look at it.

Yeah and at one point they offered a whole set for like $300 or something.  Was a good deal at the time.  Id say there are more than 1000 copies of #1 in the wild.  No evidence just seen a ton of them sell over the years

So I bought one on eBay and now I'm second guessing myself because the seller seems to have a suspiciously large supply.  If you search for completed items, you will see they have apparently sold over 30 copies, going back to October of last year.  It just seems weird that someone would have 30 copies to sell.  Not sure how hard it would be to counterfeit a magazine though.  The sell has been registered on eBay since 2003 and has other books/ magazines for sale and a 100 percent positive feedback rating.

I did message the seller after I purchased and asked how they came to own so many copies and the response was they aquired them when the magazine was first launched and are selling them due to financial issues.

Any way to know if my copy is legit?
