This is the danger when you chase bonuses and whatever that's free. Since you're more or less already into Bitcoin, you should know the red flags, at least the very basic ones. One of them is free Bitcoin giveaways. Dismiss it right away. There's no such thing as free Bitcoin. Another is asking for Bitcoin. That's also a solid red flag. Anything that asks for money is a scam. Anyone that asks for Bitcoin is a scammer. Don't even give them a second of your time. Don't even exert effort and spend time researching or verifying whether it's true or not. You don't have to prove that an obvious scam may be otherwise. Surely, there are other things that are worth your time.

This has the word SCAM boldly written all over it. But I understand that you’re a fresher hence you may not have so much experience yet. But I hope that you learn from the people on this forum so you don’t have to experience everything before you can learn. First, the SUPPORT is something to be careful about because when people want to scam others, they like pretending to be coming from a place of help. Like you said, this person is saying that they will help you verify your account so you will be able to use ALL functions of the platform. That there is a promise and adds to why it is a scam. And lastly, they asked you to deposit money. Not just any small amount but as much as 0.01BTC!

These are scopes they use to take money from people. Never ever send money to any support for any reason. If you even encounter anyone asking for money while claiming to help you, share it here let people respond because 1 or 2 persons may have experienced them too.

This is scam. Do not bother checking out this website ever as I have seen people using such techniques to scam and I can give it in writing that even if you deposit that 0.01 BTC they will not give you anything and they would ask you to deposit even further amount for withdrawal but they will make that bonus reflect in your account but you will not be able to withdraw it. After you withdraw 0.01 BTC they will say that since you are a new user you need to deposit more and they will keep extracting more money from you until you give up then they will start threatening you and support will stop responding to you.

This is an old technique used by scammers. I got similar message through telegram wherein the person said he has 0.89 BTC and he cannot withdraw it as he was from China and told me he will transfer it to my wallet of a particular site by asking me to create an account on that scam site and once the account was created I did see that 0.89 BTC in my account but they asked me to deposit money which I didn't later I figured out that the website was created by the scammer who texted me.

Once again I am reiterating DO NOT FALL FOR IT AS ITS A SCAM.

He that have ear let him hear it's very simple, I think many caution is already at pin post regarding situation bloke this many fake air drop ,kyc and personal details demanding links just to scam people with lesser knowledge, that is the reason one need read very well at this board because it major purpose is to educate before jumping into the market properly falling quick prey to scammers can be as a result of lacking knowledge, experience and information, I can't say it completely but 50% is as a result these. Though one can fall prey as no one is encyclopedia of knowledge mistake can still take place but some are actually avoidable if knowledge and smartness is applied.

It is a scam.

You are explaining the tactics that scammers are using to scam people. That is the approach they have for you that you are falling for.

You gave them your information? Your information might be used against you. Like to be used illegally or be sold to people that might use it illegally.

This your statement is true I nearly become a victim is not on how I use my brain it would have been a different story, releasing of one information is very dangerous, many site and exchange that require personal details emerges on daily basis bon they glob and most of it are scammers.

If you are looking for fellow users like you of bitlet.net, I know where you will find them having conversations about bitlet.net. See them here - https://www.trustpilot.com/review/bitlet.net?stars=1

Fantastic. This user quoted below also got the same bonus as you. Isn't it wonderful. Well here's what he/she has to say. Did you know their experience were as recent as yours. It happened just a few weeks ago- 2nd January 2024.

Came across this exchange through a facebook ad. I was very happy to see such a generous airdrop. I know that this happens, as I have participated in such promotions more than once and received large suns on giveaways. I activated the promo code they gave and indeed on my account appeared the promised amount. But the problems started when I tried to withdraw it. The system did not let me do it. I wrote to support and they said that I need to verify my account. Okay, I was ready for that too. I sent the documents for verification, but they stilldid not verify mu account. They sais I had to make a deposit to verify. I was very indignant about this, but I was never able to verify my account without the deposit. I was able to withdraw funds anly after a few days when I decided to make a deposit and my account was verified. But I still think that this is not right

I filled in my information and uploaded documents to verify my identity.

Now, support told me I will need to deposit 0.01BTC to my account to verify it and so be able to use all the functions of the platform.
They will suck you dry for your information. Here is the experience of another user.

I used the promo code for Bitlet that i came across to get 0.35 BTC. Registered but i found it strange that i have to invest 0.01BTC to get my wallet verified. Had other platforms before where they asked for way less but anyways i complied and and got my account verified. I tried to withdraw to another wallet but then they claim that i have to go to premium status since my balance exceeded 0.2BTC which is already alot. Now i complied and i tried to withdraw now they are saying that my withdrawal is put on hold due to Canadian Tax authorities(Notably FINTRAC and CRA) and that i have to pay 0.0525BTC to cover the 15% tax fees which is ridiculous.

I contacted both the CRA and FINTRAC and they have have no such power to do so. I checked their legal disclaimers and both business registration numbers came out negative on FINTRAC's money business registry. I also reached out to their legal partners BFC LLP as per their legal disclaimers.

So if they ask for such a ridiculous amount for taxes, what else are they gonna ask?

I’m not sure you’ll get anyone that’s using the site here that will give you that kind of assurance.
~snip~

The matter is clear without any explanation that you are getting into, because who would legitimately ask for a deposit for the verification procedure? You want to appear smart, but in fact you show that you are not capable of writing a meaningful answer even when you prepare it in advance.

@DdmrDdmr, in case you missed it, it would be good to know who exactly you are giving merits to ->

As said, it’s an obvious scam, the likes of which have been around for years with one sort of claim or another. They lure people with a seemingly great deal (double your money, make x% in a month, obtain a smashing registration bonus, or whatnot), and then either flat-out keep what you send over to the platform, or persist in milking the cow through a set of subsequent excuses that require one to send them over more bitcoins (or other).

There are literally thousands of said websites around, generally spread through social media and adds. Taking extracts from the website and searching for them on Google easily brings forward quite a few other sites that play along the same or similar (scam) offering.

The method used on this site is very tempting for people who want to earn money easily, but they also set a trap by asking users to deposit 0.01BTC into their account.
Be careful with this site, there is a possibility that you will become a victim of a trap set by fraudsters. Keeping your money on sites that are not well known is very risky, the findings from @Cantsay are very clear and you should leave them immediately.

This is obviously a scam...
Your documents  I don't know what you submitted but its definitely to know little  of your privacy or probably  to earn your trust towards depositing the BTC
There are many alot of negative reviews  on this site being backed up by frauds and it's not a safe wallet , a web custodial wallet with a hot storage (all in 1) trade with care

I opened the account because I received a bonus code for an amount of BTC. I talked to their support. I'm not into bitcoin and I'd love to find out about someone using the platform without issues.
As has already been said, this is a scam attempt and you should not send any bitcoins as a deposit or you'll lose them.

You can also consider any email address you've linked to the website compromised, if you have other accounts which you used a similar email and password for, you should consider changing them as soon as you can.

If an offer is to good to be true then it's not true. I'll assume your profile name is the amount they promised on their website as your bonus, you shouldn't imagine any website will give you such an amount for free.

glad that you decided to ask around first before depositing anything. As you can see by the recent post of Cantsay on your thread, they are using stock photos for their "team", that alone indicates that they are up to no good, apart from that, on Reddit there is someone who posted that they were given 0.34btc from a "promo code" but was asked to deposit $400 in order to claim the money, which is what scams commonly do.

Sorry op but it's the popular fake giveaway scam -- it's too good to be true. Secondly, if a service requests for a huge deposit in order to get your "supposed" cryptocurrency, you can guarantee it's a scam.

Sad to hear that you have sent the scammers your personal documents as there's a likely chance it'll go around the darknet so I would advise you to consider your personal documents leaked and report to relevant agencies and/or request for a new ID.

If I understand you correctly, you signed up on bitlet.net, carried out some tasks, got rewarded with some bonus, did KYC hoping to make withdrawal but you're told to deposit 0.01 BTC in order to for this happen. If that is the case, do not send any Bitcoin, they're scammers. If you do, you won't be able to withdraw the bonus reward and your bitcoin. You really seem naive, you need to be very careful of the sites you visit as well as giving your data to scammers.

Hi Cantsay,

Thx for replying.

I opened the account because I received a bonus code for an amount of BTC. I talked to their support. I'm not into bitcoin and I'd love to find out about someone using the platform without issues.

Okay here are few things I found about the site.

First:
the so-called CEO of the site’s picture was downloaded from istockphoto.com and that’s a big shining red flag.

Second: They claimed to be around since 2016 meanwhile their site is not up to a year old – seems like something a scam site would do to gain the trust of people that they want to scam.

To be honest, I am not familiar with the website you provided and even though the website is legit (assuming it is legit) but there won't be lots of people who might/will be interested in it because of KYC. Many people doesn't want to upload their personal documents because of some reason like some people prefer being anonymous for privacy matters and other reasons. In your case is you didn't mind giving personal information and also you want the bonus but for others may or may not the same as you as I already explained why.

I’m not sure you’ll get anyone that’s using the site here that will give you that kind of assurance.

The site is not up to a year old [according to Whois] and also it’s not a decentralized exchange, so instead of risking your money on a site that you’re not sure of why not just go for the one that has been around for a longer time? I see that you don’t have any issue verifying your identity so completing kyc for a more reputable exchange shouldn’t be a problem to you.

Or is there anything special that was promised to you if you use this exchange? If NO, then I’d suggest you leave them and look for another good one, you can check out Binance [if you’re ready for kyc].
