Ignoring the ethics factor, I disagree this would be a bad experiment. It would measure the ability to crack a password intended to secure xx dollars.

IMO it's still horrible experiment, because
1. Sometimes we don't know much BTC or USD stored.
2. Strength of the password mostly depends on the user, not amount of the BTC or USD stored.
3. It's also possible those hashes belong to fake wallet. See Re: Fake walle.dat can trick bitcoin core client?

To the question of unethical use, we are not talking of stealing somebody's money, this experiment is a part of something more bigger then just money)))

And what's the goal of this "experiment" ?
It could be to see if anyone has researched ways to weaken or break the cryptography of the encryption algorithms that would make cracking the wallets easier than brute forcing each wallet.

That would be horrible experiment because it has ethical concern and uncontrollable parameter. If someone wants to perform such experiment, they should able to control the parameter (such as which software used to generate the wallet and password characteristic) to achieve good result.
I agree with you regarding the ethics of trying to crack these wallets, but there are a lot of researchers who are willing to brush ethics aside for their own personal profit. Just look at all the university professors who are willing to accept money from the Chinese government in secret.

Ignoring the ethics factor, I disagree this would be a bad experiment. It would measure the ability to crack a password intended to secure xx dollars.

Makes you wonder if with the speed improvements in GPU / Tesla from Nvidia if some of these could be broken in any reasonable amount of time in the future.
Probably not and it's probably never going to we worth it but think how far GPUs have come in the last decade.

Nvidia came up with DGX-2 the price factor and the availability of these master pieces leave much to be desired. But it is a question of time... Don't forget also about Amazon Braket and things like that, I am more than sure that as soon as someone spends enough time and money to get into this issue thoroughly, we will see that ECDSA is not secure enough)) I hate to bother the dinosaurs, but Enigma also seemed unapproachable.
We are on the white side of the force though...))

It could be to see if anyone has researched ways to weaken or break the cryptography of the encryption algorithms that would make cracking the wallets easier than brute forcing each wallet. Or, maybe the OP wants to know if someone has developed technology that can more efficiently brute force these wallet files.
If someone finds any kind of weakness in the cryptography algorithms used by bitcoin wallets to encrypt their wallet file the weakness is either disclosed safely and  the algorithm becomes obsolete or they are going to sell the weakness to the highest bidding government to break the top secret information that is encrypted by the same algorithm (AES) by the governments.
Either case, there is no experiment here.

Thanks to the senior citizens of this forum. But the question is still on. Has anybody tried any of those? To the question of unethical use, we are not talking of stealing somebody's money, this experiment is a part of something more bigger then just money)))
It is not about ethics in this case, it is about who wants to waste their time because what you posted here are clearly fake since they have been circling the internet and has been sold by a scammer in the past to gullible newbies who don't think modifying a file to look like it has bitcoin in it is so easy!

This list of hash was posted on another forum months ago and it seems some of them already posted here on the forum.

And found some of the hash that already posted here around yr 2012 you can find it from here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/crack-my-wallet-5237245

So I think these hashes are not worth cracking because if those are already posted years ago and until now no one can crack it. You also don't have a chance to crack these wallets.

If I were you forget about these wallets because you are just wasting your money or even it's free for me it's not worth cracking and you are just wasting your time.

got a whole bunch of them...need help advising or encrypting

All you can do with them is to bruteforce them.

I don't exactly know why you want to steal the money of other people or where you got them from.. but chances are high that you got scammed if you bought them or that they are worthless if publicly posted.

Either way.. it is unethical and unlikely to succeed.
