Stock photography market is the most centralized that exist, agencies rule an enormous part of the industry and enjoying huge commissions. Those who don’t line up, are struggling behind and left alone in the battle. The fees charged for distribution are between the highest of all industries, up to 85% of sale price, which leaves photographers with only crumbs of the revenue.
Creating an equitable distribution system is what Wemark all about and I am waiting for some more projects to do the same..

I read a lot with this wemark.. what does this project really about, is it photography in blockchain?

It used to be that photographers needed an agency, just to publish their work..

Thanks to blockchain, Wemark is creating a new generation of photographers who are strong enough to sell their work on their own.

A refreshing project.

They are not supposed to give their works out so cheaply. It is better they handle it themselves.

To pay such a commission is not to respect yourself. It would be better to sell their works on their own and not use the services of such intermediaries. And the project is not bad. I myself participate in his bounty.

When marketplaces reach maximum size, they  charging higher fees and become the same lustful mediator they came to replace.
Blockchain was created for sharing and promoting digital content in a revolutionary way, the relationship between creators and photo-agencies is one sided and sometimes even abusive. In order to empower a direct economy for digital assets we need to embrace Wemark’s new payment system, who rewards all parties involved in the creative process and changes a grim reality.

The current division is illogical. It’s hard to believe photographers have so little faith in their product that they are willing to sell it so cheaply.
