Finally became senior member couple of days back thanks to Ratimov who showered me the required merits for the rank up recently, it took almost 2 years for me to rank up from full member to sr.member but I wasn't in hurry to earn more merits so I can rank up as soon as possible because its literally out of my character.

Actually I don't want to bump this thread for my rank up but I still feel someone might get motivated by this thread because we no need to chase merit all the time just let the merits comes to us if we actually deserve it.

Now on the journey to Hero member, maybe it will take another 2 years. Cheesy
Even if it took you 2 years to finally rank up to sr. member but still it is an achievement. Honestly, I was going to quote your post in previous page but I noticed that it is on year 2019 and I had to navigate to next page and see your posts about ranking up to sr. member not too long ago. Anyway, congratulations on ranking up to sr. member and a new responsibility since you are no longer a full member. Let's see if there might be a forum user who will open this thread and didn't bother to check the dateand just quote the post he/she like to reply.

There is no doubt newbies could become legendary one day.

There is theoretically no doubt that this is possible, but in practice, it is a different story. Previous ranking system (before merits) had only one key component, it was time (activity), and a new one is added in addition to the activity extra component in the form of merits that serve as some kind of voting system which should only allow you to advance in the ranks if you are recognized by the community as a member who deserves it.

There are individuals who are definitely exceptions to the others, but 1000 earned merits is something which so far is achieved by a very few forum users. I don't want anyone to be discouraged with these facts, but the system is set up to reward the best and the most persistent users. Anyone can one day become Legendary, it is only a matter of time and effort.
You got a point that not every newbie could become legendary and I feel that is the advantage of having merit system over the previous ranking system where people started to farm accounts and abuse forum for different reasons but now only people who deserves to be ranked up can reach the new heights. I feel now merit distribution getting better compared to previous years so everyone will get a chance to earn merits of they got some useful content.
S***...  Huh I thought I would create another motivational thread about my journey from zero to Senior (HERO?! Cheesy) and this would get me enough Merits so I can just sit and wait! Cheesy

You must have high spirits, try something great, make a thread and involve yourself in various discussions and the time will come when your answers and comments will be appreciated by the community with merit. Let is look forward to your first merit.

Thanks for that heartwarming words, I hope your journey on this forum will get better if you try to be good at what you are and don't try to run behind merits let it come for you.

Also, good luck with your future because newbies are the future legendary of bitcointalk. Smiley

Thanks for your reply. Now I'm surprised. Do you know what's the reason ? Cause you've said another motivational speech. Eactly you said the truth that who is newbie today can be legendary in future. Obviously he, who wishes to be a legendery member and works for it will be a legendary member in future. I find the strong motivational speeches among most of the upper ranked member. So I'm clear that who get's legal merit has keep the right to be meritted. Respects for them.

Make better posts that could help others and making threads or posts only to get merits to rank up is not the real contribution,I guess you knew the difference on both and be a better member of this community to get merits and recognization.

Yes I've realized. I'ld follow your suggesstion not for ranking but for sharing my feelings, helping others, contributing for skil up, for developing my skill. I know bitcointalk is a popular community where one can grow ones skill, gets the best suggestion. I should continue for developing myself, contribute for others.

If people still don't read this summarized type of thread, then I don't think that person is going to be able to rank up. Starting from Newbie all the way to Legendary would take a lot of time and effort, but if you deserve it, you will reach that.

Nice list for potential Newbies to Legendary members (soon)
Thanks for the kind words, yes most people who bother to read anything will be stuck and remain at their rank forever but I want to make the things easier for them with this simple or summarized format. Smiley

I do agree a lot with the Grammarly extension that you should get it. It would help you be aware of what you need to work on, and it's not just punctuations; it's also the grammar itself, whether you need to add a preposition, a comma, or any other type of possible mistake, it would help. Continuously, you could learn the basics with Grammarly.
The paid version of Grammarly has more usage if someone wants to learn grammar and its around 12 to 15 dollars per year and I guess its worth to pay but I have free only to correct my typos issue which often occurs when I tent to type fast.

they have never been joined discussions on local boards, beginner & helps, meta or Bitcoin (and child board) where many members giving a lot of merits to posters.
Thanks for that, but little correction joins on the threads where the real discussions get going which should not be based on sections or merits awarded on local boards. When you find something information you can send merit on any boards and others will do the same.

This forums not limited to some user, but All of users can be ranked up.
Absolutely. Forum is for everyone. We have the same right to improve our accounts here. We just need to present the reasons to rank up.

Many member stuck on newbie because 90% their post contain bounty reports,
True. Or they just made low-quality posts just to fulfill the signature campaign's task.

they have never been joined discussions on local boards, beginner & helps, meta or Bitcoin (and child board) where many members giving a lot of merits to posters.
Yes. They may don't care about it, buddy. I ever experienced it, I just posted on the boards that are eligible for signature campaign tasks. Commonly, I posted on altcoin discussion.

*The first thing to do before trying efforts to rank up is how you can commit to yourself. Make sure that you really have a strong intention to change your habit. You also must have a good motivation to learn more, both everything related to forum or crypto as a whole. Then, you can think to improve your ability such as writing skills, constructing a good idea/opinion, or gathering data to add more value to your posts. In addition, one more thing that you need to reach your goal, it is never give up and do continuous efforts.

I noticed some members who were very actively contributing in the forum by making informational threads but when they rank up to their desired rank, they then stop and calm a bit, glad to know you are not one of them.
Actually I did mention that kind of habit from the forum members on many merit related discussions but We have to accept them and their merit hungry to rank-up gave some useful information.

Even wearing signature we are not forced by the campaign managers to stop posting on those sections, maybe it won't be counted towards your paid post but still, you can do if you got something to say on these boards.

Congratulations on your ranking up to full member. You have always been consistent with posting and joining discussions. That's one criteria to ranking up, whether or not you're in a signature campaign, join quality interactions.
Some users wake up after long periods of inactivity and apply for campaigns but are very likely to not get accepted.

Your tips are quite helpful and simple enough for anyone to adopt. One extra quality would be: find a niche for yourself. Pick a section, grow your knowledge in it and you can become renowned in that field.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
Don't wear a signature that forces you to be a shitposter/spamposter.

It's important to consider the boards/sections that campaign managers required for. I mean, choose the part that you're good at or allows you to make constructive posts. If not, you'll never enjoy what you discussed. And you'll (maybe have been) blacklisted/ignored by the sMeriters which will prevent you from rank up.

It's a useful thread, friend. It should be very helpful for lower rank members like me. Spammy posts make everything hard to be merited and rank up. The only way to improve the level is by making quality posts. Anyway, I have also little tips to make better posts and avoid being called by spam posts. Even if I'm also still trying to apply it, but why don't to share it.  Cheesy

I translate the quote above. See below:

Your posts are better if they have these criteria :

1. Useful.
It helps others or has value.

2. You write them with a correct grammatical function.

3. They are written in proper punctuation.

4. On topic.
They must be always related to topics.

    Must be different than others.

In my opinion this post is the best motivation at the moment for everyone.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member301
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). I will not be posting a definitive list of merit sources (so that people don't bug them too much), though you'll soon figure out who they are if you pay attention.

There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.
~snip

The Forum has provided facilities for everyone to achieve the highest rank. But only with one condition, namely by getting a number of merit that are quite in accordance with what has been determined by themmos.

When higher rankings are needed, users only need to make good, constructive, and high-quality posts. That is how the system works and that is the best way for many people to successfully increase their account ranking.

Newbies have been told what to do so many times, and if there are some of them not still doing it, then they have no intention of ranking up. "what to do newbies" is somewhat the most popular thread in the B and H section, it's not bad though, but if they are really learning from those threads then newbies by now should be making HQ/good threads, but it's difficult to see any doing that.

Your thread is good but imo it will be better to start threads that they can read to build up their knowledge of bitcoin, cryptocurrency and whatnot.

If Findingnemo could rank up then why you can't rank up. I'm just a noob in cryptos technical aspects. When the merit system was introduced I was a member ranked forum member who lacking much intensive knowledge about cryptocurrencies. But later I realized that you no need to be a pro to rank up, all you need to be someone who can contribute somewhat to the discussions happening on threads.

Just my tips for anyone to get away themselves from being called as a spammer:

  • Don't post if you don't have anything to say: Most people are doing this mistake when they enter into a discussion, they simply post some sentences in general, to get their post count to be increased but if you have this habit then you could never rank up.
  • Don't be lazy to read: Did you ever heard that intelligent people are good listeners? So get your knowledge increase by reading more and more contents as much as you can, more knowledge you gather the more chance to make a better suggestion while enters into a discussion
  • Get yourself into a discussion: If you are creating a thread or replying to a thread keep watching the thread for further replies for your post and keep the discussion get going until the solution to be found.
  • English is important: Yes, if you want to interact with someone on the internet you need to have basic writing and understanding skills of English or you never know what is happening in a thread and you will be stuck there forever.
  • Be yourself: Just concentrate on improving your knowledge with the things you are good at, like if you are a trader then read more things about trading strategies and how to tackle the different market condition of crypto then teach others the things you learned. You can't post something good and informative if you never give an effort towards it.
  • Avoid posting on Spam mega threads: even if you post some good post on 113th post chances of anyone would read will be less, so you can't expect to get merit for that good post.
  • Avoid posting wall of text: If you want to say something which takes bit more characters to express then cut down the characters into multiple lines or paragraphs because if we see something which is really long to read, most of the people will simply skip. We are lazy in this modern world. Grin

Misc tip: You can use Grammarly extension to correct your mistakes while writing a post like spelling mistakes, simple grammatical mistakes, punctuation marks.

Suggestions from other forum members are welcomed. Smiley
