I have tried but too much of a hassle

I don't wanna send bitcoins to some shady exchange that launched same day as the coin itself and only deals with 2 currencies (btc + othercoin). That's just not for me.

Like BTER or Cryptsy ?

+1 to lucky88888, btw.

try it here. don't cost a thing, its just a testnet using the easy online wallet, have a browse.
http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/index.html

if you like it, you can ask to get some free testnet coins to play around with, you have to ask for it in the forums.

if you really liked it then you may try download one of the many clients that are available.

choose offspring if you want a wallet.dat to be familiar with bitcoin and more user friendly.

or you can wait until everything is released then try it but then it would cost you more to own some nxt.
remember that even for bitcoin, it will one day be only POS after it has all been mined.

Will Bitcoin Rise Again to $60,000?
I never really bothered to learn how they work, without proof of work it didn't seem like it was something that was gonna go far to me.

Although I've been checking out altcoins ever since november I never really bothered with those 3rd gen coins, anyone else in the same boat?
