Over the past 9 months, I've done hundreds of transactions face-to-face with individuals who found me via localbitcoins.com.
I've never had a problem.
What are your questions/concerns?

I have never in fact used the site to purchase bitcoins locally. However that is the one and only way I ever purchased bitcoins thus far, is face to face. My first portion of a bitcoin I purchased was for 40$ worth from a friend of mine. This does look interesting though, I might give it a go.
