there are two or three quite good ones such as winamp a little old but still at the top (now poweramp), vlc and musixmatch

Winamp is on android? I don't see it on the google play store, but VLC seems great anyway. I actually already use it on my desktop for playing videos but not music. It's actually very similar in layout to Google Play and even sorts albums by year which is a nice touch. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe you can consider Poweramp. It's a famous music player. I used it when I didn't have Spotify Premium. It has a trial for 15 days. After 15 days you can buy the unlocker for 4.99$.

Was using Google Play for MP3s and it was perfect but they've annoyingly stopped the service now. Not sure why they couldn't let you keep using the music player but looks like I've got to find something else. I don't mind a paid app but only if they allow a trial version first. I'm currently using a free one called Audify but it's slow to boot up and a bit annoying to use in a few ways so just looking for something as much like Google play as possible that has your entire music library at the touch of a button without having to load it up every time.
