That's the ticket. Sort of like iPhone's push notifications.
BlockChain.info can be configured to do text (via e-mail) notifications, but are you describing where the app in the background sends an Android notification if a payment is received?
I like a couple of them that are in the Market Play Store, but nothing mentioned any sort of real time, you got a payment from this address function. Maybe go with BitPay then?
