Besides having more than a share of the mining power right now, In my opinion their support is rude.
Still don't like their withdraw fees either.

Currently trading at a 15% discount to GHash, and pays the expected value automatically...just sayin'

Yeah I am starting to think that the cex.io system is rigged or just dominated by stupidity. I think it even astounds the cex.io people because they would have priced the May shares much higher if they thought the market would have accepted them.

No, exactly, and at this point, it seems like the operators have enough market power though to fix the market, allowing more people to buy in at the ~0.007 price...

multi.ghash.io has been down since approx 1PM BST today? Just me?

Cpuminer has fallen to my backup pool but keeps probing multi.ghash.io for life every other minute. Keep getting "stratum_recv_line failed" on multi.ghash.io

Edit: their support says:

Please allow us more time to sort this issue out.
Our tech team is aware of this issue, we will fix the multipool ASAP.
Please restart your miner, and see if you can reconnect to the stratum server.
Let me know if you this problem is resolved.
If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Edit 2: appears to be back online now (4PM).

I used it for a while but returns were too low for my liking.

Stats reporting are probably the best though.  Live stats of your miner's GH/s rate.

It's not bad, not great, was not profitable for me.

I'm new to the environment, what do you mean by low returns? GHash is the biggest pool.
Where do you mine? Eligius?

Like in real life, I keep my mining claims secret Wink

GHash is a good fallback pool for when the main line goes offline.

It's not profitable because there's too much hashing power for smaller players, under 1TH to make a a comparable ROI as with other pools.  Where I make BTC0.022 with BTC Guild, I make BTC0.0200 which is a 0.002 difference.  After 10 days, you give a whole days hashing for free to GHash comapred to BTC Guild, which I don't mine there anymore either, their stats are boring but probably have the most robust website.  You do get more venues to make money with GHash's merged mining but no one uses anything other than namecoin from merged mining it seems.  The stats at GHash are mostly live but so is BitMinter, who's interface makes Ghash look like it came out of the 70's.

I keep GHash as fallback because I know it will take a lot for them to fail, I can promote as an affiliate and make money trading hashing power.  Although all I want to do is hash with my own equipment, I like the fact of multiple income venues that are available to me.  However, it doesn't warrant the 0.002 daily loss vs. other pools with much lesser hash rate.  I don't mind waiting and get my electricity's worth. I did this test 3 days on 3 random days within 1 week.  They were all the same results so luck has no effect on this test because each has the same chance to get the same (mal)chance as the other.

I also won't promote GHash nor CEX.io, they're too big, I also won't promote anything that doesn't pay me, so....  hint hint other pool owners, offer miners an incentive to gain and keep them.  Don't wait for me to release a pool because I will have one in time and will blow everyone's mind, that's how CEX.io became huge, get affiliates to do all the heavy lifting for you and offer state of the art interface.  Wink

Does anyone know if its possible to set up idle worker notification on this pool?
EDIT: yes, it is. Smiley  found it in the dash options somewhere a few days ago.. can't remember where!

Also I'm a bit puzzled by the concept of multi-coin mining.. if its more profitable than straight LTC mining (and allows auto conversion to LTC for the payout), then what is the point in straight LTC mining?

Multipool mines SXC but for me comes nothing out of it?
LIst continues an continues... Doge, LTC and others pays ok.

I heard SXC has been corrected and paid out yesterday.

I am enjoying my experience at Cex.io quite a bit, I moved from BTC Guild and my revenue shot up. The pool speed is now over 22 PH/s and we are finding blocks rediculously fast. One day we had 9 in a row... talk about luck. I had a record $15 day with 2 Antminer S1's and a couple dozen cloud GHS.

It is worth mining at this site, the overall experience is very good, but unfortunately my ISP blocked port 3333, what makes me very depressed.

Ghash is definitely worth mining at. Is it your ISP or your own router / firewall that has blocked ports? If you can identify that then yuoucan fix it.

I pointed my 5 MHS at doge.ghash.io:3333 last night and been mining for 12 hrs now. The real stats are fine and hashrate is what it is, but strange thing is I did not earn a SINGLE DOGE yet. My balance shows 0.0000000 DOGE and that's for 12hrs of mining. I don't know what's the catch with them but I am going back to my tested pools.

My advice for ghash.io is stay away!

I mine BTC at ghash and it works very well. Rewards are paid on block completion, DOGE blocks can take hours, block 202076 ran 12 hours perhaps your timing was just unfortunate during that block.

Ghash website down for the last 40min or so
Email notification that my miners hopped to their secondary pool.

It has been very stable (like btcguild) up to mid of this past week.  Still, my workers (both physical and virtual) have recovered.
I see 4 dips in the last 3 days.

I had 2 more dips shortly after your post and ghash.io is down again ! Going to the cloud flare page, with my secondary pool notification email

On a lighter note, I went through my daily average hashrate, and multiples by the ideal earnings (plus any PPS from my secondary pool)

The earnings for the past 11-12 days have been within 98.5% of ideal income, despite the disruptions and the presumed network problems with consecutive stales, etc

According to the email I just got, a server popped a DIMM rack in their data centre.  Downtime again later to replace the broken bit.

- Lots of downtime in the past 5 days
- Currently ghash.io and cex.io offline (cloudflare) again for the 2nd or 3rd time
- Approx 3-4 times my miners have hopped to their secondary pool
- Multiple times I think their mining server goes offline, several stale shares in a row (5 stale blocks out of the past 100)
- Whenever I see a very long blocktime (5 hours at 800GH/s is a very long time) I wonder if their backend is down.  The consecutive stale blocks were a 3hr stale, a 1 hour stale, followed by another 3 hour block
- Large swings in hashrate, from 820GH - 600GH - 820GH

I've been playing with cex.io a bit, mostly because of how easy it is to turn a quick profit in speculation/manipulation.  I've noticed these, and I'm going to *guess* they are actually related.

1) Downtime is *probably* due to attacks [my guess is they're just overloading the webserver, not actually a bandwidth saturation ddos]
2) See #1

3) Failing over to secondary pool is probably network related (NL servers aren't always the most stable in my experience).  Could also be attack based, or even just growing pains since they never really operated a public pool before.
4) The mining server offline and several stales would be related to #3.
5) Also may be related to #3, but also: VARIANCE.  Even at 800 TH/s, 3 hour blocks aren't that uncommon.
6) My guess:  GHash.io's internal speed is in the ~600 TH/s range.  The remaining ~200 may be other miners, or personal miners of the people involved with ghash.io (BTC Guild has a miner that comes & goes at over 100 TH/s, might be using ghash.io as primary since they don't show up on any major public pool when they're not on Guild).  When they drop from 820 to 600, that may be their public pool server failing, either actually crashing, or simply not communicating with their backend properly.

All of the above are guesses, but they're educated guesses from someone who has been running a pool with multiple servers in multiple regions for 2 and a half years.  A lot of the problems you mentioned are extremely likely to stem from the same cause.

GH is currently overpriced, take this into account:
Quote
I think the recent GH price rise on cex.io was caused by possibility to redeem actual miners.

Although there are 2 factors market did not accounted for yet, which shall correct price greatly:
1. You can redeem same hardware for a price of about BTC0.068 per GH (I've used lowest hashrate from their range). Hardware is in stock here: http://bitbonanza.co/shop/thefirst/ and they have hosting solution too.
2. From the 1st of November there will be a maintenance fee of $0.001 per GH per hour. That is about $0.72 per month (and here is hosting for about $1 per GH (using pessimistic hashrate again). And it is actually much cheaper to pay for electricity then for hosting service at cex.io, right now the hosting is free there.

So  I think price will drop to somewhere closer to BTC0.068 in the nearest future.

It's a double-edged sword though. If you want to keep your payouts separate from your 'trading' money, it's not a good idea. It muddies the waters for trying to track profits. If you aren't going to do much trading, and you don't care about tracking stuff, using the same account will make life simpler. You can use the link in my signature as a thank you as well.  Grin

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....
I jumped in with them a few days ago when you could buy 1G/h @ BTC0.07 - it was a steal. I'm tired of paying over the odds for hardware that's obsolete by the time it's delivered/plugged in - then having to pay electricity for the privilege, especially now the electricity cartels/companies have just increased their prices here in the UK - AGAIN Shocked
If they stick around I'll be tempted to sell all my mining hardware & deal only with them- it's slowly turning into a money pit this mining lark..... Cheesy

Edit: They've also been rock solid in the few days I've been with them also - can't fault them tbh.

2% or 3% fees. this is the only anecdote.

Where do you get that? They list the full block rewards including transaction fees in their block table. Unfortunately my hashrate is too low to calculate accurately whether there is a fee or not, since the percentage of my shares relative to total is truncated to two decimals. Someone with 1% or more of the pool's hashrate should be able to calculate how high the fee is with a low enough error margin.
3% PPLNS, Transaction Fees are paid to miners

There is a strange delay when connecting to the pool after restarting BFGMiner. It will take up to 5 minutes until the pool is marked alive. I'm curious if this happens with other miner software.

they have two pools to connect: us1.ghash.io and nl1.ghash.io, both supports stratum. Check the settings. (just ghash.io is only the web interface)

I'm using nl1.ghash.io, but I just tried us1 and it has the same delay.

There is a strange delay when connecting to the pool after restarting BFGMiner. It will take up to 5 minutes until the pool is marked alive. I'm curious if this happens with other miner software.

Recently created an account on cex.io and thinking of pointing my boxes at ghash.io.

Any issues to speak of ? Good or bad stories ?
