Probably the best processor will be the one who consumes less power.
But CPU mining is a big headache Smiley

He ask which one is faster on verus and not how fast is it in randomx. Verus mining is more profitable!
I prefer to use well-known benchmarks. Is it possible that when mining Verus, the result will be different.
If you say that Verus mining is profitable, then write the current profit.
I am not a fan of processor mining, because video cards are cheaper than powerful multi-core processors.

Profit $ 240 per month.

You are right, CPU isn't good for crypto mining because they are not profitable compare to GPU unless you buy a build for gaming that comes with high end CPU and you want to make money out of that if not it's a bad investment for mining

When it comes to the electricity consumption the i7 9700 CPU wins because of its newer and lower technology NM  and also OP stated that the Xeon is two CPUs and a single Xeon e5 2630 draws up to 80/90 watts as well so two of that will be 180 watts on CPUs alone

Verus is the most profitable coin for cpu mining.

Before mining a coin, I would also first look at the market liquidity of the asset. Yes, it maybe the most profitable to mine via CPU but how easy is it to unload the asset and not just in theoretical terms?

Right now according to Verus coin's Markets as show by coinmarketcap. The 24 hour trading volumes are so low and after a closer look at the orderbooks of the exchanges. The spread is so large and therefore the price of being displayed can be misleading for a person who is thinking of selling their coins at a market price.
55,000$ worth of volume isn't small compare to most new PoW coins that have almost zero trading volume every 24hrs, you will still be able to sell your coins for other assets anyways, epic cash has more lower volume than verus and miners are still able to sell on Vitex exchange

Anyone into CPU mining on here? Which one is faster between these two CPUs

A) Intel Xeon e5 2630 @2.3ghz x2
B) intel i7 9700 @3.1ghz

The Xeon has 6cores 12 threads per CPU making it 12 cores 24 threads and the i7 has 8cores and 8 threads

The Xeon is faster and it can do much hashrate in verus.

OP is verus coin that profitable for CPU right now? Why not try out epic cash? Mine and swap for USDT because I don't trust the project completely but it's profitable and many aren't mining it because it looks like it can't be trusted, mining difficulty is pretty low too

That Xeon E5 2630 is good for plotting, you can do 12 plots in 6 hrs on that CPU, the advantage here is more threads and also 2x CPU, that's if you have interest in chia coin though, I'd advice to wait for pool cos right now all we got is solo right now
