Assuming ID is real, someone scams you from the other side of the world. Then what?

You can do more than if you do not have their ID. ID does not guarantee trustworthiness, but given the choice between ID and no ID, ID is obviously preferable and can mean something.

It then gets posted on the forum and you're accused of being a paedophille until you return the money Cheesy.

No. The identity of the biggest scammers in the Bitcoin community were all known (Tom Williams, Mark Karpeles, Trendon Shavers etc etc). Knowing someone's identity doesn't make that person more trustworthy at all. Do not forget the identity of Bernie Madoff was known.

I don't think it is a good idea , this forum does not even the *e-mail verification ( which prevent the hack if you use a 2FA- with your e-mail address) and you want an user verification ?

*I know it is also for prevent the spam.

He clearly.made his mind up.
a few people have walked away from this thinking vod is a child abusing his power.

Just look at all the new threads.

I was less concerned at that point about my rating, and more so about pointing out what he has done and continues to do.

He has no proof I lied, he is labeling me a scammer as I'm hot headed.

I guess,

But something could be done. I'm personal friends with a sitting board member of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, but he doesn't use these forums.
Gotta be some way to establish some identity or trust.
Building a trader history, really is meaningless, as you just proved. And even top trusted members can scam..
There are certain reasons for a trusted member not to scam. A primary one is the fact that accounts can be sold and that positive trust has value. If a person were to attempt to scam (that may or may not be successful) they will then lose the value of this trust and of their account.

This is demonstrated by your recent hate campaign against Vod since he left you negative trust, thus leaving the value of your account to be less

My account value was less before I did anything. So please stop saying my hate campaign against a member who clearly has an issue and is abusing a system. Is the main reason, It just gave him different fuel to use after he was proven to be full of shit with his first false accusation towards me.

Exactly you just put more fuel into this and from my point of view it did not good for you.
If you would have shown more diplomacy and maturity - i am sure not only i would have taken a stance for you instead for vod ( im not involved with either you or vod in any way, but saying it as part of our community)

Bitcoin is all about being anonymous.  Not sure many people would go for this.

Yeah, and also scammers obviously aren't going to use this only trustworthy people, or worse people who want to appear trustworthy.

I can't see your posts vod, please stop replying. I simply see your name. Lol

Ok child.. in my experience when people go out of their way to post they've ignored someone, they probably haven't.

 Roll Eyes

Yeah exactly. If you're 'ignoring' someone it might be a good idea to, you know, actually ignore them. You may be ignoring vod but he isn't ignoring you and is free to comment.

I know TF had something that gave a bit of support.
But does anyone offer services to verify a user without making the DOX public unless a scam accusation appears?

A trusted member of the forum?

If not, this would be a nice feature.
A member provides hiw info, proving name, address, phone, job etc. and said member gets a + rating on the trade feedback to show that a senior member has their info and they are who they've stated?

I'm seeing a lot of bullshit around here, If you ask for money your maybe a scammer, If you back talk, or your hot headed, scammer.

Maybe having some legit DOX attached to your profile would help?

Or is there a third party site for this?

JohnK (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/john-john-k-31288) used to do it check with him to see if he still does.

Would that be Josh Nekrep?  Does he know what you're doing on these forums?

This would not work. Someone could easily provide falsified documents to "prove" their identity. Look at how many scams there are on btcjam, most of the loans are some kind of scam and they require identity verification

Additionally account sales are allowed so someone could verify themselves and then sell their account.
