Almost everyone bitcoin users know about Bitgold because of their massive free gold promotion. Everyone claimed it and left the site
A very few people use bitgold because they are still emerging and you can't find much stores accepting payment in bitgold nor you can use them anywhere else

I made an account when they opened up for business and were apparently giving some free bitgold to sign up but then I remember that some people claimed that when tried to withdraw, they were asked to make a deposit first and to me that is shady and yells of scam. So I never used them after that.

I remember them as i have few gram of gold in there. It got stucked as there are not much merchants accepting bitgold payment so my 0.10btc around get stucked in form of bitgold. Angry
No much development and promotion is out there now for bitgold and no much interest by community.

i have an account at there but never use it because on their first promotions they had offering free gold for new member but till now i haven't get gold but some people says to me that this site is scam and untill now i was never open my bitgold account and overall i don't trust them and they are spammy my email with shitty offers

I did opened my account from their promotion but after a while it seem to me they were scamming their own customers which is never good, but even worse when you are dealing with people's money. Which is why I advice, to don't use them.

I remember that promotion and i also remember many topics on referrals payout (which they refused) on this forum. They are enough alternatives to be honest, so why go with a shady party like bitgold?

It is good project with good idea , and they have a lot to do in the future , but like other comments said , the members use that site just for referral earning , an after they get high referral number , they didn't care about it , for that we don't listenor read about it .

I used them for a while when I was getting some $ while referring some people to their website , they paid me and everything, however, "Bitcoin" for withdrawal is "coming soon" since a long time now and I don't think they will add it anytime soon. In fact , I think they will begin scamming sooner or later because the amount given for referrals was just too high for any company to give .

...

I have not seen recent comments on Bitgold.  They have been around for awhile, and I have seen their ads in a magazine (about Canadian mining).  I also know that there so seem to be issues (or there were issues).
There used to be an issue before that bitgold is charging back golds that were earned from referral. They charge it back once the referral is not active anymore. I think they stoppe referrals but I'm no sure.

Anyone used Bitgold lately, especially their cards?

EDIT: The fine print shows that their card services are NOT available to US citizens.
The car is available worldwide. Not sure why you said it's not available in US or maybe they changed their terms.

EDIT 2: I had thought that Bitgold offered a Bitcoin payment option, but I looked at their website, apparently not.
They do have. If you want to buy gold you can use bitcoin to pay for it. I'm not sure if they still allow it today, I haven't gone back to using bitgold anymore.
Wha you can't do is sell your bitgold in exhange for bitcoin.

I became interested in this project several months ago. To be honest i didnt found positive opinion from independent source. My conclusion: Ponzi scheme.
From my observations they just earn money from referrals.
