Medium has long blocked accounts that advertise cryptocurrency projects. Journalists who write news stories can still write and it makes no sense to block them.

For sure I can not talk about the whole Bitcoin community, but I am mainly looking at ICO and undoubtedly Medium is the most frequent channel (blog) used by projects in this market.

I actually prefer steemit,as I feel medium have stringent and strict rules, and so high handedness in management,i may be wrong, but that is what I experienced writing articles in there, as I no longer do.

I currently use LinkedIn,and I love how they set up their platform, and it's more welcoming to newbies in the system,i currently have ditched my medium account

You can still post bitcoin related post on medium but medium have one disadvantage. The platform normally refused access to the post if so many people have written on the same project. Your blog will not be visible.

I still see a lot of people using Medium, to be honest, I had no idea that cryptocurrency topics should be avoided there.
Is that something new?

I personally just use Steem to write crypto-related blogs, I imagine the earnings are a bit less, but it's also less daunting to start writing there.

Medium is not such a cryptocurrency friendly platform, there were issues of articles related to ICOs getting deleted soon after being posted and in extreme cases accounts getting blocked.

I still have my account, but do not regularly frequent it.
Steemit and Minds are very good alternatives and not averse to cryptocurrency related content.

i think creation of steemit initially took a lot of posters out of medium and to that new platform which also provided them with monetary rewards. but ever since steemit became a spamfest filled with low quality articles in order to get that money some went out of it specially since the rewards became tiny.

don't forget that medium is not banning any account that is posting about cryptocurrencies or bitcoin. they are banning those who are spamming there about ICOs and altcoins mostly.

I keep seeing many posts done on Medium, didn't know the crypto argument wasn't very well welcomed there.

I remember some people started pushing for publishing articles on Steemit, but it seems it didn't gain much traction (I personally don't really like Steemit)

Medium is one of the platform most projects are using to write a compiled article about them. I doubt if there's any project without a medium account as it's one of the acceptable media for most projects other than others.

I have just created an account on Medium.com to have another platform for my blogging activity. Only then I started to remember about the cryptocurrency topic not so welcome there.

Scraping Google for some minutes I found some accounts banned but some still alive. So, anyone is still using Medium for "bitcoining " there

(I forgot to make this topic self-moderated but I will truly appreciate if you shitposters can go away from here, Thx)
Wow, I actually got to know about medium because people were sharing their articles on cryptocurrencies from there in bitcointalk threads. I am currently working for an ICO project and I write articles about cryptos. I also see that other people are doing the same thing, even though the articles aren't read much by other people. Shelby Moore (known as iamnotback), for example, is posting new articles on cryptos there (or, more often, reposting articles from steemit) about twice a month, but even he has only 130 followers. To sum up, I guess people are still trying to post crypto-related articles on Medium, but the community is weak out there.

Bitcoin topic is welcome in medium. I don't think they'd not allow it soon either.
I still do have my account in Medium, I use to write a lot for bounties in medium than on steemit because in medium I still can reedit the article even after months in case I'd like to update the article. Steemit doesn't allow this as far as I know which is why I moved out there. Medium is easier to manage too.
