Anyone making a asic with the bfl chips? I know it must be too soon.

I think we revisit this topic if/when BFL releases the specs and reference board designs. Until that time comes, all we have is tantalizing potential, but nothing more.

Can you all shut up? The topic is not "Lets debate whether preordering from BFL is a good idea". The topic is all about who's doing it, and who's developing a board.

So far I only saw Josh mentioning in the Shoutbox (06-06-2013 06:20 PM):

We are going to be releasing the specs and reference board designs, so someone will develop their own firmware
BKKCoins has said he will develop a board once he finishes with the Klondike design for the Avalon chips.
Thanks for the info! Both of those are good news.

It's a valid question.

At current prices, an Avalon chip is ~$8.50 for ~280MH/s, or 33MHs/USD.
A BFL chip is $75 for ~4000MH/s, or 53MHs/USD, with better power efficiency.

Jalapenos are shipping pretty regularly now, and all of their recent delays have been board related, not problems with the chips. If all BFL is doing is grabbing them from the manufacturer and shipping them to you, it'd be pretty hard to fuck that up.

Ya Why bother with bfl??

Please take your I'm-ignoring-you-teehee or I-hate-BFL-just-because crap elsewhere. Doesn't do anything to help the thread, or the topic at hand, which is:

Where is the board design to make an ASIC?

Has anyone smarter than I in such matters looked into it?

Are you completely insane? I would never again give BFL my money before I hold the product in my hand. If you bet on the cheaters at BFL you loose.

When will the chip be delivered and what grade?

That's the question at hand, dipshit...

Remember Avalon also posted the technical specs and people have been able to design something based on a working example. Why would anyone bother with BFL given their track record? I suspect that the GEN2 Avalon will be to market and someone will have a PCB ready concurrent to that. BFL has nothing of the sort so why would anyone waste their time building a board at this point for BFL. No documents to do it with.

Anyone making a asic with the bfl chips? I know it must be too soon.

Why? For chips that may never arrive?

Avalon will have 55nm chips out before the BFL chips get delivered but I doubt anyone will even order the chips from BFL none have so far. Can't escrow.
