Could you post the details to the transactions? We can then use the blockchain to figure out what happened in those transactions.

Multibit HD is definately not a crap wallet, it is one of the best. Something must have caused the transactions to be stuck somehow, probably waiting for confirmations or something.

I guess I was just unlucky then. After repairing the wallet the issue with an old payment being unconfirmed was fixed.

And what do you mean by your old balance became unconfirmed?

I.E., the balance transforms to an unconfirmed transaction. It just so happens that the transaction was previously already confirmed and completed on the 9th. For example: Confirmed payment of $20 on the 9th and a balance of $20. Then today received another $10 which became confirmed and then showed my balance as $10 instead of $30 and then showed an unconfirmed amount of $20 which had previously been confirmed.

Apparently it's not an isolated issue, it is explained in more detail here by another user: https://github.com/keepkey/multibit-hd/issues/862

However, I was able to fix that issue by using the "repair wallet" feature but I still could not send money to any address. I then saw the "empty wallet" option under the manage section and while it seemed to be the same thing as a send, but sending all, this time it worked and I was able to send to another address. I like the clean layout of Multibit HD but it's stressful thinking that money could get stuck in a wallet.

Also, I received another payment today. When it became confirmed, my balance changed to the new confirmed amount and my old balance then became unconfirmed... but this payment was confirmed 5 days ago so I have no idea what is going on with this wallet. Is this just a crap wallet and I have I lost Bitcoin?

In the payments tab, can you see any unconfirmed transaction (confirmed transactions have green checkmark icon)?  Multibit doesn't have coin control feature so it might be trying to send bitcoins from an unconfirmed transaction.

I saw Multibit recommended a lot so I decided to use it. I've been trying all day to send a payment but each time I get this error:
