Good point. Several times when upgrading my internet connection, my provider sent me a new "free" gateway/router/wireless access point. I might as well use them for something.

Also I have a couple of Buffalo Link Stations with USB and Ethernet. I have installed the open Linux ver on them to ssh into them, maybe I can install cgminer there?

i am running mpbm with an X6500 on an Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H, load is around 0.6, cpu usage 35%

that is not the cheapest router arround, i know, but i have it so i use it

many routers have usb

also there is this guy running cgminer with bfl on his router https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cgminer-v385-on-broadcom-based-dd-wrt-openwrt-76685

For the price of this, you can pretty much pick up an arm based (a8? don't know a lot about arm devices) netbook/laptop. Or a few dollars more. I can't find a solid price on a beaglebone at the moment. Although I do know you can pick up an used atom based netbook.

This has the benefits of a case, power supply with battery, screen, a reasonable hard drive (whether ssd or hdd), plenty of ram and a keyboard/mouse. All in one. For the same cost. No hacking required.

Granted it's not as cool, but it's simpler. When mining, simplicity wins.

As far as an ARM based miner, pooler has one going.

Ignore this if I've completely missed the point of your thread (using a low powered arm device to run linux and drive your BFls.)

Thanks for your thoughts, you didn't miss the point of my thread. I'm not stuck on the Beaglebone, I just look for comparable alternatives. AFAIK one can buy the BB for 89$ and it appears it takes up to 500mA @ 5V.

I haven't done this personally, but judging from the specs, the beaglebone should outperform the raspberry pi on basically everything except power consumption, so I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

The Raspberry Pi is a cool computer, but it's availability is low.

So is anyone out there using the BeagleBone (like the A5) under Linux for FPGA mining?

I'm thinking of running cgminer on it and attaching my BFL singles.

Just wanted to see if that's already been done  Smiley
