Apollos :A call to precise knowledge'. Acts 18:24-26
We see here in Acts 18:24-26 that Apollos spoke boldly. He was very courageous when he spoke about the baptism of John.

'Jesus is the Christ' is what Apollos taught after he encountered Priscilla and Aquila .From the same scriptures Apollos now taught the resurrected Christ.

You must be given to learning because you are an influence in a circle. In some places where you find yourself, what you know will be demanded of you. That's why you ought to know!

We got saved because our thinking changed. The more you change your thinking, the more you are growing. This is what repentance means. From the point of salvation, the believer's mind is fully involved. We come to church to learn.

Teaching meetings are very important for the believer. Preaching is for inspiration, teaching is for information. Spiritual Growth is in the teaching because in teaching we go into details.

The message that got us saved is not a detailed message but Spiritual growth will be in the details. At spiritual growth you begin to see the details of your reality in Christ. Eph 4:11-13

Eph 4:11-13, the gap between you and the faith is the knowledge of the son. Unity of the faith is when an individual comes in to agreement with the faith. The individual becomes in a sense ' closer to the faith

The knowledge required for Growth is the knowledge of the Son. Spiritual growth is in your consistency in the knowledge of the Son

In Eph 4:17-24 Paul tied good conduct and behavior to a proper knowledge of Christ. The diet for growth is the knowledge of the son.Spiritual Growth therefore is to know what happened to you .The knowledge is in the details

Heb 13:8-9 says that the heart be established, focused and grounded in one particular precise teaching -Grace. There should no mixture at all. Grace here refers to God's action, what God did for mankind.

Believers are called to precise accurate knowledge. Don't be carried about by several Doctrines. Spiritual growth is to be established with Grace. Grace is the character of that which is free. If it is free then it is free.

It is good that the heart be established by grace. The same way that you were saved, you continue in it. Precise knowledge says that all was given free. Jesus Christ gave salvation free yesterday, he hasn't changed.

2peter 3:18 Growth is Greek auxano which means to increase, augment , @Olalere_Tosin #clcuyo.

Col 2 :16 -23 wrong teaching sounds nice and appealing. It has alot to-do with symbols- Oils, mantle clothes, rules, dos and don't. These things aren't the precise knowledge. In precise knowledge you do away with symbols and hold fast to the head@Olalere_Tosin

Gal 4: 1-8 The believers is not meant to be held in bondage to the elements of the law. The word child used here refers to those that are in bondage to the law. Spiritual growth is to grow in our nature not in the elements of the law

Gal 3:19-26 The law has no place for the believer's spiritual growth. Faith in Christ is enough

Eph 4:14 Children here is Nepios in the Greek meaning underdeveloped, untaught, childish, unskilled.

I Cor3:1 The Corinthian church was unique. When reading this Book it good to go back to the book of Acts and study where Corinth was mentioned, it will help in understanding more of what the Corinthian Church looked like.

A key to Bible reading and interpretation is contextual reading.

1cor 3:1-2Carnal refers to natural, fleshly things, things of the earth. He was referring to his mode of communication to the Corinthian Church. He was saying he couldn't communicate to them as he ought because of their state! They were not growing.

Assignment - Learn Romans 8 by heart before 3rd December. Memorisation is important to spiritual growth.

Rom8:1,6-9, The believers realm is the spirit not the flesh .The believer is not carnal. He is spiritual.

The way to grow is to look away from the signs and the symbols. Words are enough! Knowledge is vital to the New creation. The growth of the believer is functional in what he knows.
.

The church is a learning centre. It is a place for teaching. Your quest for Spiritual growth is the same thing as the quest for knowledge.

Apollos was receptive to correction. He was obedient and humble. One of the ways to grow is to be humble.

When you are in a Church where something new to you is taught, don't assume is wrong. Be humble and receptive. Being teachable will help in Growing.

When you are growing in knowledge, don't be eager to share what you have just learnt. Be patient. Calm down, don't rush. Get it well, let it sink in.

Some tips in Bible study 1. Word study. Pick a word and check how it was used. You will notice some words that is peculiar to just some authors. eg Notice John doesn't use the word Repentance. 2 Read in context only.

Any doctrine taught must be seen in 7 Places, in
1. Genesis as a seed
2. ‎The law as types and shadows
3. ‎Psalms as David's songs.
4. Prophets as a prophecy
5. ‎Gospels as teachings of Jesus
6. ‎Book of Acts as teaching of the Apostles and Acts of power.
7. ‎Epistles as Revelation

Contextual reading is important. We have been challenged to grow in knowledge. We must have a desire for growth in knowledge. We have come to the end of TJC November edition. Thank You for Joining us.
