Apple introduced Payment Request API technology to make payments in the Apple Pay mobile payment system using the Interledger Protocol from Ripple. The technology will be used in Safari 11.1 on macOS and Safari on iOS 11.1.
According to Apple representatives, the team aims to make Apple Pay a widely used payment system. However, a significant lack of support for various payment methods causes difficulties in this area.
Payment request API technology supports different ways of making payments in a variety of browsers using the standard API, greatly simplifying this process.
"Ripple Protocol will allow you to transfer funds between users with the appropriate address, two-factor authentication and electronic signatures. Interledger will also allow you to pay for goods and services with cryptocurrencies, which will eliminate the risk of intermediary errors," the company reports.
The news that such a giant as Apple will use Ripple technology contributed to the increase in the price of XRP, which, according to CoinMarketCap, rose to third place and is trading at $0.484521. The average market value of Ripple increased by 9% over the past two days, and the total capitalization by almost $1.5 billion.
