I personnally agree with @asche and @LeGaulois.
(So this post is quite near to the previous ones, sorry.)

- I have never received a merit point from the French section since I am in these forums, so I think that there is something dysfunctional in this section of the forum.
There can be two reasons to that:
- there is something wrong with Merit sources
- there is something wrong with your posts
That said, I think a lot of Merits are already distributed to people deserving them in our Fr local board.
BTW, I haven't seen you a lot in this board.

- I have an extensive experience with forums I own (I can give links in pv), I am moderator in some popular forums for +5 years.
Do we care?

- the French section is too quiet. French people are well educated and there is a lot of Engineering in France, this part of the forum should be more dynamic.
I don't think adding a fouth Merit source is the best solution, and I would rather recommend you to contribute to the forum by simply participating to discussions.

The French section needs a fresh addition to the moderation team to avoid this place being ruled by kings and queens.
[...]

That's the purpose of my application.
So, is this an application to become a Merit source or a moderator? It's not the same... (and the difference is quite huge)

I am not saying whether I support this application or not, and BTW I can't consider it as an application, because it does not meet the requirements (10 posts, etc...).

I forgot more than you will ever know.
See what happens. This guy is one of the snob agressive guy in the French section. Trolling people instead of spreading positive karma. Posting provocative comments like these that are useless and spreading a bad feeling.

I do have an aggressive communication style sometimes, I'll grant you that.

Most people on the french board know me well enough to know I am not a bad guy tho.

Now back to the point, this is about judgement. Most blockchain specialists on the french section (don't think you are the only one, because you are not) have been telling you that you were WRONG on that exact thread.

The fact you are totally unable to admit that, or maybe explain to all these guys (that have a more cooled communication style than I have) shows you don't want people to learn from you somehow, (or unable to admit you are wrong, or expressed yourself the wrong way).

Then again doing your own blockchain is easy as pie, I could to it too in a few hours of work, don't belittle people because you made a blockchain and they didn't.

I stand by my point, you do lack judgement, and I would prefer most of the other users in the french section as a source over you.

TheWolf666, if you can show us support from your local french community and also apply according to the rules, then I think that you have good chance to become merit source.
Generally, I always support candidates for merit source in local sections because many local users never write posts in English part of the forum and don't have chance to get merit for good quality posts.

French people are known to be a pita, I know I am French. The French section needs a fresh addition to the moderation team to avoid this place being ruled by kings and queens. I am not going to go against what it is now, the problem seems to be rooted for a long time, but at least, I will help the ones who need and spread good positive karma and re-balance.

That's the purpose of my application.

If you're interested in becoming a moderator here then show that you know the rules and are an active member by reporting lots of posts that break the forum rules. When moderators are needed usually the best barometer of their suitability is their report history and accuracy of those reports so if you're interested in being a mod then get reporting, but there's no quick way to become one and a mere high report count isn't a guarantee of anything but it's the best way of showing that you'd be a worthy addition to forum staff.

Wow.

We already have 3 sources. One of which is very proficient.

Also you seem to show poor judgment and have no clue how the merit system works.

Please come back and explain us how decrypting an encrypted private key is the same thing as decrypting the Blockchain. I can't wait.  Roll Eyes

Edit: i forgot about tx's public and private keys as well. Still waiting for comments on that.

Note to @ashe: I have made a blockchain, with its own private and public key, I do not have to justify to you how this is working. I tried to explain how the exchanges are getting hacked. There is no need to get angry at me. I only try to help. What's the point to rant about me? Different opinions are great. But why the fight? I do not understand your attitude. Why the moderator in the French section do not stop you bullying everyone in this section? People say "ashe is tough". That's call a bad reputation to me. Bullying people is not informative. It is turning off newbies to come and participate.

A few days ago, we were talking about it in the French section, so I will repeat my opinion here.

We have nothing to complain about, either in term of moderation (the moderation is better than before)
or how the merits are sent (and how many). (Compared to the English forum where most people confuse this with a Facebook Like button... yeah I say it)

it's not a big community like some others but there is/are enough source(s) and rewarded posts compared to its activity. This is just my opinion.
The French community isn't like the English forum with some people hunting for merits up to licking the ass

I usually support anyone who wants to become a merit source. So, here is some advices that may raise your chances to get accepted:
You already mentioned why the French local board needs a new merit source and this is a good thing.
Now, you have to add some statistics to prove your claims.
Find ten unmerited posts from that board.
Try to be more active there and spend more merits from what you have (according to bpip you received 59 merits but you spent only 18 = 9 left)
...

Good luck.

Haven't encountered you or can't recall (that's if i have) but just picked interest in supporting your application that's if you can provide us with 10 quality posts via qouting, which hasn't receive enough or no merit especially from the french board as that would be your board of concentration. Just skimmed through your merit history and I can see some popular, reputed meriters there which goes to show you're doing well on the english board and makes me want to believe this

that's if your contributions on the french board is as decent as that of the english board. Provide us with those 10 posts you think deserve merits to prove you know what you're getting yourself into.

Edited: you did recieve 3 merit from @Halab on the french board.

Aside from Upgrade00 said, your merit summary shows you only merit thread/post on French section sometimes.
But if follow theymos instruction, i might be willing to support your merit application.

I do not believe links to your personal forums would matter. You should be a somewhat established member  here on bitcointalk.

I believe he's somewhat established member

The account was registered August 2017 and i strongly believe that he's an established forum member and ccould be consider for the merit source in French Board, if there are no source or sources on the said board. I Hope you will find a good response from Theymos soon, good luck.

There is a process to applying to be a merit source that has to be followed. One of which you missed out is providing ten quality post which you deem worth of merits, it tells of you ability to determine which posts to award merits to.

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

I do not believe links to your personal forums would matter. You should be a somewhat established member  here on bitcointalk.

I didn't state otherwise, only that I don't think expertise somewhere else would matter here.
I am very open to every rank becoming merit sources as I think it expresses inclusion, especially of lower ranked users.
Good luck, @TheWolf666 on your application.

Hi,

I am native French and I would like to apply to be a merit source in the French section.
The reason I am applying are the following:

- I am a full time blockchain developer. I am online every day, I have the time to read every posts in the French section.
- I have never received a merit point from the French section since I am in these forums, so I think that there is something dysfunctional in this section of the forum.
- I have an extensive experience with forums I own (I can give links in pv), I am moderator in some popular forums for +5 years.
- I speak both English and French fluently.
- the French section is too quiet. French people are well educated and there is a lot of Engineering in France, this part of the forum should be more dynamic.

Thanks for reading.
