At the moment, i have three apps installed, bitcoin, bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold.  I only have coins in bitcoin and bitcoin cash though.  Does this mean when I connect my nano ledger s to my laptop, I have to install the new bitcoin and bitcoin cash app version update?
No. Only if you run into any issues attempting to use the older versions... But you should find they'll still enable you to send/receive just fine.

Also, all three apps you have are essentially "Bitcoin" based... so Bitcoin is the "big" one... it is 40kb. The other "bitcoin-based" apps like Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Litecoin, Dogecoin etc are all 2kb. So, if all your apps were bitcoin based, then theoretically, you could run like 40 apps Tongue

Is there a way to know without connecting my nano ledger to my laptop of the next bitcoin app version update?
Not really... unless someone were to say, it's Version 2.0.0:

Not that it really makes any difference... you need to connect to your laptop to use it/update the apps anyway... so I'm not sure why you care? If it is there to update when you open Ledger Live and connect your device... then click "update".  It really isn't as difficult as you seem to think it is Roll Eyes

Now I read that apparently many apps like bitcoin app now has increased in size?  Such that now... you could only have two apps installed at once?  Is that correct?
Depending on the size of the apps, you might be able to fit more than two!

Does this mean when I connect my nano ledger s to my laptop, I have to install the new bitcoin and bitcoin cash app version update?
~Snipped~
But as of now even if I don't update the apps, I could send and receive btc or btc cash with no issue right?
I don't own a ledger device, but AFAIK, it's not mandatory to update as long as you haven't skipped a lot of updates [I couldn't find the exact link, but I remember reading someone else's report about being restricted due to that reason].

  • Is it really that hard to connect your device and figure out that part by yourself?

Is there a way to know without connecting my nano ledger to my laptop of the next bitcoin app version update?
You've got to be kidding me!

So does this mean I need to first uninstall bitcoin gold first... before I update both bitcoin and bitcoin cash app?
If there's enough space, I don't think you need to uninstall any of the apps, prior to updating other apps.

I'm sorry to sound rude, but most of your threads are weird!

So I'm still using the current firmware for the nano ledger s as the last firmware update was earlier this year in May I believe.  Now I read that apparently many apps like bitcoin app now has increased in size?  Such that now... you could only have two apps installed at once?  Is that correct?

At the moment, i have three apps installed, bitcoin, bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold.  I only have coins in bitcoin and bitcoin cash though.  Does this mean when I connect my nano ledger s to my laptop, I have to install the new bitcoin and bitcoin cash app version update?  I haven't connected it to my laptop in a month or so and usually I do that.  But I haven't since I haven't heard of any firmware update but I do know to try to at least connect it once a month or two months to my laptop to make sure its still working.

Is there a way to know without connecting my nano ledger to my laptop of the next bitcoin app version update?  The last time I connected my nano legder s to my laptop, when I went to apps, I notice all these apps I had were earlier versions so I then clicked on update all and each app updated to the current version.  But of course this is not the same as the firmware which is the most important.  So does this mean I need to first uninstall bitcoin gold first... before I update both bitcoin and bitcoin cash app?  But as of now even if I don't update the apps, I could send and receive btc or btc cash with no issue right?
