Is the Bytecoin client really malware, someone else would have noticed/posted by now?

I found out just now that my wallet was completely emptied yesterday. I never had opened the Bitcoin wallet up. I had been planning to move it over to an offline computer this week but alas too late. I have a good firewall, virus and malware protection. The only thing I did on this computer yesterday was install the Bytecoin client and set up solo mining...which I assume right there is the problem which opened the door. Kicking my ass right now but lesson learned. Luckily I never keep all my eggs in one basket. I had purchased some casascius coins and other is in escrow. Ugh I know it is "only" 5 BTC but at prices today I am sick. Noob mistakes for sure!

Bitmining software is a perfect target for unscrupulous malware people, as they know bitminers will have coins and codes lying around. I had mine stored on a wallet server, but now that bitcoin central got hacked I'm building my own codes offline. What makes this 'currency' attractive is also what makes it a goldmine for thieves...

Any chance you might have proof the coins exited...? You can lookup the wallet address on the block explorer and follow where your 5 BTC went if you have truly been hacked...

Anyone reading this thread and feeling concerned should look into Armory and the offline wallet feature. Security of a paper wallet, convenience of a normal wallet. Don't keep your coins on your daily browsing machine!

I feel bad for the OP, but people should take this opportunity to learn from his mistake and protect themselves! With Bitcoin going up in value, we are all targets for theft!

When I look up the IP address of the transaction it shows up as pool.50BTC.com. I was testing out different mining software so indeed it was related to the mining from what I can see.
