Thanks philip.

I was going to take it apart today and take a look at the current specs. Ideally a straight swap would be nice to one of the ones you suggested. It will definitely be around a 500w power draw, maybe less. It will only be a temporary thing as the end goal is to use an hp server supply with gekko breakout board and some custom cables (to keep them as short as possible) and make the entire unit as compact and portable as possible.

Let us know if you do it as I am curious as to how it works.

hmm a project.  give me a day I will let you know what I come up with.

I never had one go bad and never replaced one.

But I do have a few ideas.

I have about 6 spare apw3+ to test.

what will be the power draw 400 watts  500 watts?

https://www.delta-fan.com/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?fan_type=19&p=4&q=1&voltage_rated=5701

afb0612h-a
afb0612h-af00

are 2 pin and 3 pin they do 4250 rpm not 6000

my guess  is they will do the trick if you don't push the psu

afb0612hh-a     2 pin 5000 rpm
afb0612hh-af00 3 pin 5000 rpm may be too loud

i have to think the ones above will all work at 500 watts  or less.

there is a 3000 rpm that will be quiet but not sure if t will cool the psu off.

afb0612l-a 2 pin
afb0612l-af00 3 pin

If I was doing under 500 watts I would guess the 4250 rpm

if I was going super low 300 watts maybe the 3100 rpm

Thanks mikey. I thought i would ask here first just incase anyone has swapped for a quieter one.

According to my knowledge philipma1957 is the most experienced guy in the "quiet mining" thing, he makes super silent S9 mods that work as space heaters so my guess is that he must have stumpled upon the APW3+/APW7 fans, he is pretty active here and he should see this topic and respond, if not then maybe reach out to him via a PM.

You can also read this topic, OP talks about the PSU fans, but it doesn't seem like he got any good recommendations.

Cheers for the dimensions and the cable length, that’ll be useful.

I have changed a dozen of them, but nothing for the purpose of noise reduction, I only change them when they fail, and quite honestly I can't tell if the new ones I got make less noise or not, but overall if you know the specs you can get a replacement maybe a delta fan of any other, judging the miner's fans which make a lot more noise than many other brands, and move less air, I am sure that you can find a better one, and since your miner is too quiet it means your PSU isn't putting a lot of work, so you might get away with less RPMs on the PSU fans.

The APW3++ uses a 6000RPM fan, the size is 6cm*6cm*2.5cm, I believe the cable length you going to need is about 20cm.
