The Satori roll is available again due to an unpaid PM offer.  The user has been on several times since so I am putting the item back up for sale.  I agreed to 0.1BTC with them so I have lowered the price to reflect that.  So, 0.1BTC plus shipping for the Satori roll for anyone interested.

Curious, why are the Satori rolls always so high over spot? 25 coins in roll at .001  BTC -> 0.025 BTC

Are they just highly collectible or am I missing something?

This is a great question that I recently asked myself and here is what I figured out, the premiums appear to be higher because the actual cost of production is a large percentage of the price rather than a Cas coin where you don’t really notice the cost of production due to the premium despite appearing lower. For example, moonbits are roughly 0.003 per chip when loaded for 0.001 due the fact that the chip costs 0.002 by itself. After you consider all of this, then comes in the actual premium/sentimental value which brings you to the current premium asked by AM which is quite reasonable. Hope this helps answer your question  Grin

Interesting. You'd think that would be a sunk cost after initial purchase... as the market is purely determined by how much any single buyer is willing to pay. My thoughts were the market of potential buyers is vastly larger then the Cas coins because of the lower buy in price.

I don’t believe these coins are old enough to have production costs sunk. Of course the market affordability levels plays a key role too but even if these chips costs $15 to make and hold $10 of BTC then at $900 for the role of 25 it’s actually only a 20% premium. However, I would expected maker or first/second hand buyers to take a loss.

Its a "you missed out on the [ANN]" premium. Thats why you need to grab the ann's when you can. These are no longer available anywhere to anyone without buying them on the secondhand market. The secondhand market sellers set their own base.

This is the main correct answer here.  Satori has closed shop and likely not to ever return.  While they made a lot of them, I'd argue they are the most popular/widespread funded collectible around the globe to date. Bitcoin being on a nice run of late, hanging around the 10k number, also adds to the premiums in hype and of course actual BTC value ( though of course minimal ).

Production costs were likely quite low. It's a plastic chip, with stickers. Machines do the the work, that's mostly pretty basic. However I think there was significant production "challanges" having to do with the volatility of BTC.
To give you an idea of likely how cheap the material/labor was.. in Japan there were Satori coin vending machines outside certain venues like grocery stores that sold chips for less than $5. Of course they technically could have been taking a loss, for marketing purposes, though I doubt it.

This is the first time you offer the Mini Hossa. It's good to see that Satori roll valuation is back @ 0.1BTC each as fellow holder.
