There should be a sticky topic on that. Like: "Why mining is not profitable" or "Read this before
you start buying mining hardware".

Every second thread here is from a newbie user who
asks basically the same question, hopefully before making a purchase.

While it is slightly entertaining to watch their reactions to the sad truth, it also gets a bit tiresome.
Eventually this forum might run out of people patient enough to answer this question over and
over again, which would be sad for those newbies I believe.

You're about a year too late to get into btc mining and expect to profit with such a small investment. If you're in it just for fun, then do it it. But don't expect to actually make any money.

Hi. I am very new to mining and I saw something called ASIC Miner block erupters.
If I'll buy a raspberrypi machine, some erupters and a usb fan, will it be worthy?
Five erupters of 2Gh/s will cost me about 220$ I think and a raspberrypi machine will be about 60$.
they will produce about 0.28$ a day in this difficulty.
This way it'll take me about 3 years just to brake even and that's without calculating the electricity cost.

My question is, where was I wrong in this calculation, or was I? Or is usb mining just not worth it?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my poor English and bitcoin knowledge.  Undecided

Those are very old as far as asics.  If your talking about the one's im thinking you are overpaying by far on 220 for 5.  You can find MUCH cheaper.  I would look at different sources if you truly want to mine with those.  Also look at ROI most want much shorter then 3 years.

Thank you for your reply. So how SHOULD I start? I mean, how can I mine as a beginner for a small invetment?
Is it even possible mining BitCoin with a small investment ?
With small investment? I guess it's not possible anymore maybe you should look into altcoins.
Mining altcoins such as litecoin is the same, isn't it? I will have to invest at least 500$ for a decent mining rig and get roi of 2 years.
