If it was just the technology then they could just copy the code since it is open source. Better delete what you just wrote before more people will read it.

HODLing is an art, not just a word...
most probably it will be a private fork.
these giant companies aren't interested in something like ethereum but their own benefit. they will probably make a new platform based on ethereum's smart contract but without its bugs and bloat, and all its ICO and specially they will create something of their own disconnected from ethereum to eliminate all the pump and dump effects of it.

it has always been like this. all of these giant corporates want profit and what they can 100% control.
the same is true about bitcoin. people are just getting excited over nothing for example when a financial group talks about bitcoin and blockchain technology but in long term we see they made their own thing!

it is the technology they want, not what it is attached to Wink

So i'm wondering if all these big institutions are actually using ethereum network, or are they just using private forks and such? If so, then ethereum is no different than ripple  Huh

Obviously now they are in the research / development period. Eventually some will use private forks, some will use private interoperable with the public one, and some will use public. It's impossible to know how it will be used now because these companies don't even know it themselves.

Public eth will benefit even from those who will use private forks, because EEA is formed to develop a standard ethereum and not a specific product, so any development will benefit the public chain aswell.
