Faucets mostly have a high refferal. They are like paid to click websites. They don't make you much by yourself alone. With refferals, you can make a fair amount. You will need 1000s of referrals though or very active ones. It is rather a starting point for when you are new. You will upgrade from there to something else but you will learn so much about getting referrals, how they work and about cryptocurrency and how to transfer it. Rather learn now with small amounts then later with more.

Do you mean you are going to run a faucet site and you are asking how much a faucet site can earn, wondering how much money does the most successful faucet sites are making?

If I am right you take a look at this thread: Is it profitable to run a Bitcoin faucet in 2017

You can read through the comments and find some valuable answers to your question Smiley

Years ago yeah you could make a good income, now It's very hard and It's based mostly on a referral system.

With no referral and grinding al day on an infinite number of faucet I think you can aspire to a max of 5$ daily.
$5 a day is not possible I think... it's impossible. How many claims and faucet sites are needed to earn $5 a day?

$5 = BTC0.001039 (preev now)

No one can keep claiming 24 hours without eating, shitting and sleeping... Cheesy Maybe $1 a day is possible or someone get lucky may hit a big number.

Agree with this. You're posting in a section of the forum filled with posts about new faucets and portal sites for earning bitcoin. I think they're still popular with quite a few people (judging by the traffic to our blog) who want to learn more about crypto and earn a bit along the way.

Are you asking from faucet owner perspective? If yes, I think that this question don't have straight answer. Some faucets are really profitable. But it's very difficult to build profitable faucet nowadays. Many of faucets are closing down just after few days or weeks in business because owners failed to achieve profit. Being faucet owner requires lot of job - endless fight with bots, maintaing ads, their positions and etc to achieve best results. And after everything many of them get only peanuts as profit. Biggest part of earnings goes to refill faucet ballance, pay for hosting and similar expenses.

Well, but Moonbitcoin and Freebitco.in are in business for long years already. But how much money they spend to build everything, how much effort this work required. It's not worth to compare them with basic faucets

How come it is not at all profitable. Many you need to spare 100 days of time make 50 USD. That too not sure in current situation of the market. Once bitcoin value was low and many faucets was doing giveaway in big value.
If i am write initial faucets was giving 5 to 6 bitcoins per day. If I get the same now, imagine i will be miilionaire and my network will go to somewhere.

Gavin andersen is the pioneer in this market. Kindly check his interviews before you have idea start that business. all the best

Simply because users started to abuse it.
Yes, back in the day there were faucets which gave 5,6 bitcoins, but you have to realize a couple things.

A. Bitcoins were worth virtually nothing.
B. Faucets weren't saturated/abused. Back in the day the only people claiming from them were pioneers, people who were genuinely interested in bitcoin, and the software around it, who simply wanted to test it out, play around a little.
Nowadays it's people from 3rd world countries trying to make a "quick" buck, and its ran by people who are trying to make a profit from their faucet.

the community and ecosystem is changed radically since then.

I've said this in the past, and the answer to this is; unless you're willing to put enormous amounts of time and effort in, and invest a lot in traffic/userbase, it's not going to be worth it.

There's barely any adnetworks looking for faucet traffic nowadays (as it's extremely bad quality, no conversions whatsoever..), and the ones that do, have some serious requirements. (Think 1 million visitors etc.)
That's something you're not going to achieve anytime soon when you're starting a new faucet.

Ofcourse you can add popunder et al, but whether or not those pay, and whether visitors will return is highly questionable.

I used to run Popads as a source of traffic, which kind of worked out, but at that point you're not really running a faucet, you're trying to balance your spending for traffic v your earnings from bought traffic, which is extremely difficult, and if it is profitable, it's usually not worth the time put in. (Any job in the EU regarding this sector will make more, really.)

I think it's profitable before, but now I don't think it's profitable anymore since only few peoples are lack of knowledge about bitcointalk forum and still sticks on the faucet to earn. Right now most of the people preferred to join bounty campaigns in order to earn rather than to do faucets and in result the owner of the faucet won't earn anymore.

Well I'm not an owner of faucet nor expert to this, all of this are according to my own opinion, perspective and experience in the cryptocurrency industry.
I've been doing faucets before and truly give some money but for now, it is totally a waste of time doing this. Mostly faucet never give a decent rewards and it sad that we are unable to withdraw them if it won't reach into the minimum allowable to cashout. It probably takes years before it happen.

So yeah i'm just wondering if faucets are a profitable business? Can you make money out of it?

Is it pennies on even the most successful sites? Or are they raking in big money? (how much)?

Is it dozens of dollars per month, is it a few hundred, is it several grand?

Anyone has the insight or any idea about it?

Without a lot of visitors and users base, you're not going to make huge money. That was profitable years back when Adsense could still be used to monetize the site. After this, the hype faded about faucets and with the lack of profitable alternatives people left. The faucets that are still here it's because they have a lot of visitors

I haven't heard of faucets for how many years now.
I used faucets before but I haven't used them for years now.

The question is, do people used faucet until now?
I'm sure that there are people who are still using faucets until now. Those people that built network and uses the affiliate/referral feature of these faucets.

I don't have experience of managing my own faucet but if I'll create one. I won't depend to it as full source of income, it's about the advertisers that you get. The more visitors you have, the more advertisers you will get too.

Yeah why not, but this will just work for newbies since they don't have idea of how it works but eventually if they found out that they're wasting time and effort they will halt it.

Faucets are long gone for years and if you will start it for business then you should be thinking it many times or you'll be close being broke nor stressed out.

I haven't heard of faucets for how many years now. The question is, do people used faucet until now? Faucets gets less attention every years pass by maybe because of less income that every user gets and the booming of other ways on how to earn coins, that's why they are less interested on it. So if you're going to make a faucet right now, pretty sure that will be hard for you to boom it.

Me too. But I think faucets still profitable business if we know what people want. Sometimes new people still doing faucet to earn free coins. I think he can make one new site, choose the popular coin like Dogecoin, add his site into a search engine, monetize with Google Adsense or another advertising website, he can make money, and he will get bigger if he can attract more people.

Perhaps, for the first time, it is hard, but with adding some features to that site plus promote into everywhere, I am sure that his site will get more traffic. And after the traffic increase, he can place the ads for his site, and he can monitor by using Google Analytics. Just try it because you will never know if it's work or not Wink

The vast majority of faucets are not worthwhile and do not make a profit. Only the very few big ones can make a halfway profit and this only by financing the service through affiliate income because the advertising that is allowed to integrate for faucets is very low remunerated. Faucets do not have a good reputation with advertisers and therefore there are often only tenths of a cent for a click.

But with that $5 you have earned it wont really be that worth for your time and effort thats why people dont mind too much on fauceting nowadays compared to those early years. As a business owner planning to have a faucet site its better to cross out this option.
