Just so you know @corel, there are different types of financial instruments that most crypto exchanges offer. There are perpetual futures or perpetual swaps. These have no expiry and are usually settled in USDT or USDC, and then we have inverse perpetual futures or expiry futures. So you have to be very keen before you open any position.

So when you hold a position with perpetual swaps, the fee that you might incur is the 8 hourly funding fee. Sometimes the fees is negative or positive depending on the shorts vs Longs. So you might find that at certain hours you will pay the fee or get paid. That's all apart from the position entry and exit fees

You're coming from forex background?
that's right

Cause that's what I used to ask also coming into crypto the first time, but no, on a simple long/short spot trade, there are absolutely no fees. If you're paying any in any kind of spot trading, you're being scammed.
thanks a lot for info

There shouldn't be any.

You're coming from forex background? Overnight interest or fees? Cause that's what I used to ask also coming into crypto the first time, but no, on a simple long/short spot trade, there are absolutely no fees. If you're paying any in any kind of spot trading, you're being scammed.

You do not need to make this a self-moderated thread. Some good posters may not want to post because if this.

The only fee for a trader that short is the funding rate if the person a perpetual future. The funding rate is given or deducted every 8 hours. It can be done every 4 hours for some shit coins.

You can be given the funding rate fee or it can be taken from you.

If you go long:
If the funding rate is positive, it will be deducted from your trading fund
If the funding rate is negative, it will be addee to your trading fund

If you go short:
If the funding rate is positive, it will be added to your trading fund
If the funding rate is negative, it will be deducted from your trading fund

Are there any everyday fees on holding short at crypto-exchanges?

Are there any restrictions on holding short in the form of time limits (1 month, 1 year, 5 years) at crypto-exchanges?
