Invent something people or industry needs. It's the hardest and the most rewarding way.
After the invention is patented, you will not have to do anything and you'll get an amount (maybe 1 cent, maybe 1000 $) for each product sold, containing something based on your invention.

I like boobies
Vending machines.

When I was younger I always thought it would be great to own an arcade, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. I imagine kids don't frequent arcades much anymore, since these days PCs and consoles are much more common and everyone has their own personal devices, as well.

For example, there is domain parking. You set it up and once your balance reaches a certain limit, it goes straight into your bank account. That's probably one of the most purest examples I can think of.

Forex & cryptocurrency trading is another good example but that requires serious skills. And for forex trading, you will have to speak to someone on the phone or through email when setting your account up to show them your proof of identity, etc.

Writing software could work too. You could write the software, set up a page, and then you could write a script that automatically generates a download link whenever a payment comes in. The process for publishing WordPress themes and apps on the app store is probably automated too although your sales might suffer if you don't respond to your users or neglect to market your product.

Even blogging kinda qualifies as long as you disable comments but you would have to be a really good writer.

Then there is hacking although that's immoral and your life might be in danger if you don't cover your tracks properly. Plus, you'd have to be a computer genius to pull off a successful hack.

Any other ideas?

EDIT: Novel writing also kinda qualifies although you would have to interact with a publishing company and it only works if they handle the marketing.

e.g. you write a novel, submit it to the company, they edit it, publish it, and market it, and you get royalties from your work.

EDIT 2: In fact, marketing seems to be the biggest barrier when it comes to this sort of stuff. You could write a very useful app or a wonderful blog site but you won't get a lot of money if not many people know about it. Even if you hire someone to do that, you would still need to interact with whoever it is that you hired. Same goes for rental properties. You could hire a property manager to take care of everything but you would still need to interact with the property manager that you hired.
