Yes it is a server power supply, servers do not use bad power supplies although they are a bit noisy, also note if you are in the US you most likely have 110v, this will not put out 1200w @ 110v.

How many 290x do you think this could run in the US I just bought a Mx1000 and deciding if I should return it or not!
Well it runs around 900w on 110v according to holyscott's site, so if you are using this in conjunction with a psu the pci slot supplies 75w each, it depends on your main atx psu. The 290x can push almost 300w while under load. 75 per six pin, 150 per 8 and 75 from bus, so it is almost maxing out what it can pull. Since you will -75 from the bus each one is 225w max you need to account for.

900/225 =4, EXACTLY, but that sure is pushing.

I've been running custom server power supplies from amitylabs on eBay http://stores.ebay.com/Amity-Labs

Can't beat their price and build quality.
Been running 24/7 for months now.

I was running evga psu but two of them burn out.

I found this post about PSU are these any good?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7GT4RD5414&cm_re=r9_390-_-9SIA7GT4RD5414-_-Product

Also
Can i share a power connector between PSU, or will that effect performance? Exmp one cable to one PSU then using the piggyback to another? or should i run 2 separate PSU?

Thanks!
