Address the points head on in a polite way? I don't think you quite understand the person that I'm referring to. So I feel this whole thread was a waste. This thread is not about a concern reasonable individual who invested in the coin and have reasonable concern about it.

And yes, fudding does work. Don't know the extent, but it does work in many cases. It gives some people doubt specially when the market is not too good. It can even work with Bitcoin, if the media decides to coordinate doubt. Whether the coin is shitty or not still doesn't mean that such low quality troll posting is right, which is the point of this thread. I mean lets say that the coin is shitty, should I be happy that these two have hijacked the thread with constant trolling and be like, "Oh chucks, it's ok because it's a shit coin."

FUD (whatever that is) is not against the forum rules as far as I know.

Trolling by definition only works if you get agitated by it. So yes, addressing those posts in a calm and factual manner is one way to deal with it. Another way would be to not feed the trolls and ignore them. Yet another option would be to report the posts to the moderator and hope for the best but I assume you've already tried this since you're now resorting to meta-complaints.

You're quite right that this thread is a waste if you think that only people who invested in the coin and/or have reasonable (as defined by you) concerns should be able to post in the coin's thread. You'll get no sympathy from me on this.

To be fair I've looked into that project myself and it looks like the devs really don't give a fuck, they already lined their pockets and they are lazy as fuck, probably looking to exit scam completely.

If people were posting positive comments they would be called shills, so you can't really win.  your either a shill or a Fuder.

Ok, if people were posting they would be called shills, as the should, but that's not the issue with these two accounts. That's not the problem that I'm bringing up. It's one thing to be a Fudder. It's another thing to in a childish manner talk shit non stop about a coin you're not invested, with all of your comments, 40+ all being on that thread.

Keep in mind that the thread normally gets 2 to 3 posts a day, with legit concerns. Sometimes zero comments, but now it's been taken over in an obnoxious manner.

I guess it has to affect coins that a person follows so that they could see how bad this is.

Also, you said that you superficially looked at this project. There are so many crypto out there, and unless you follow a coin on a daily basis, you really don't know about it.

I wouldn't say that the devs don't give a fuck, since they are constantly working on it, improving the code base, trying to make partnerships, and holding events. They do those things right. So I feel that's where you're wrong.

But I'm certainly disappointed and do feel that the devs have made mistakes. It's part of the learning process. You can't expect people to try things for the first time without making mistakes. Hopefully they've identified those mistakes and learn from them. It's like trading, it's hard for anyone to proceed in a perfect manner from the beginning without making mistakes. The best traders out there have all made major mistakes, and that's really how one learns in this game.

FUD

Let's face it, if coin's price drops because some troll posted something on the forum then it's an extraordinarily shitty shitcoin.

Perhaps you should stop calling it FUD and either address those posts head-on in a polite and factual manner or just ignore them. If they violate some actual forum rules (e.g. multiposting, wall-quotes, low-value one-liners, etc) then you can report them to mods. Trolling is very subjective and less likely to be acted upon.

I agree with your statement - mostly. FUD is an over-used word in shitcoinland

But malicious FUD (and HYPE) can manipulate price - not just in crypto.

True. Look at Tesla's stock price last week.

But in this specific case the two referenced accounts are just posting some valid criticism (price dropped 80%) mixed with some "fuck you idiots buying this shit". If that can move the price then in theory someone posting rainbow-farting unicorns could move it in the other direction. Doesn't make any sense.

As long as such service is allowed1, I don't see how trolling will be stopped even though is number 3 in the list with the rules. It's also pretty subjective matter.

1 - Troll/Shill for Hire. [MY SERVICES]

Must be a troll message/service itself this, i mean who would pay to sabotage a project? Then there is the fact you will be spotted immediately and maybe be able to influence a very small % of it if you are luky. Doesn't make any sense   Huh
Who would pay to sabotage a project?
Maybe who is not interested in the success of the project, e.g. who has a similar project and wants to liquidate the concurrency... or at least, try to make it harder for the competitor to reach the goal...
Just the same situation, like in real life Smiley

Why would someone waste their life doing such things unless they have an agenda?
Who knows why trolls do what they do.  I'm not sure I buy the whole "agenda" thing, since I've heard that so many times on conspiracy theory websites (before I wised up and stopped visiting them).  Sometimes people really believe what they're writing and sometimes they're just trolling for the lulz.

Don't count on any action being taken by mods.  Just hit that ignore button and you'll never have to read anything by those members.  Also, I couldn't even view those posts, so they must've all been written in the Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion sections.  I have those on ignore, and that might be something you should think about doing.  Those sections--VERY unfortunately--are mostly spam.  Not just FUD, but nonsense posts that drown out any productive discussion.

PS, I gave you a merit for writing something coherent and reasonable, which is a rarity these days outside of the small stable of folks I routinely give merits to.  I'm trying to find new faces, so to speak.

Thank you for the merits.

The thread is in the ANN section, so not sure if your settings ignores those.

In one of the threads that I follow there are two accounts who recently, quite clearly, in a very obvious manner try to troll in an exaggerated adolescence kind of way. They have literally hijacked the thread.

The first account as of now has 33 posts, all low quality FUD, calling people names, like idiots, noobs and so on. It's all, "Scam, scam, you going to lose your money. Hahaha, you all lose money, noob." Here's his post history, all in one thread. All 33 posts in the same thread, as of this writing.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/holmes70-2304139

The 2nd account is of a guy whose last 21 posts are also all in the same thread, with even more hardcore, obnoxious fudding.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mrtrust-944957

And if you check out his post history beyond his last 21 posts, that's all he does. He relentlessly FUDs coins. He already has a negative trust rating for trolling, and comes to the thread every few months. I'm guessing his agenda is to drive the price down so that he could buy in cheaper and then sell later when the price rises.

Isn't such type of low quality post against the rules here? It's very low quality, if not more so than the typical, "Cool coin," "joined," type of shit posts that are not allowed here. They clearly not posting because they're into or care about the coin and their investors. Add the fact that such type of behavior can really hurt the price of a crypto. It's a type of manipulation. While most of my alts are down 5% day after day against Bitcoin, for this coin I'm seeing one day -10% then -15%, and makes me wonder if the two trolls have anything to do with that. If so, just ethically they shouldn't be allowed to hijack a thread like this. The account with the negative trust rating for trolling does it to other coins, probably with multiple accounts. Why would someone waste their life doing such things unless they have an agenda?
