Yes, the problem I see here is that if you start deleting threads you could easily get rid of the entire Gambling section, the Bitcoin Discussion section and probably most of the entire forum because posts that are not trash originally, become trash after the first page, as the original question has already been answered but people keep posting replies page after page.

I won't delete threads of actual substance, but you're right, even decent threads where some actual quality discussion could take place just quickly turn to shit and are swamped with utter drivel by sig spammers who don't care for any meaningful discussion - just hit and run and on to the next thread to churn out a sentence or two. Back in the day you might have got some decent answers to "What does bitcoin mean to you" or "Why do you believe in bitcoin" type threads, now it's just "i can earn sign camp for my daily needs" type bullshit page after page.

That would have to be done manually and is a waste of time so I'm not going to bother merging them. The older one was locked back in June and I just trashed the other one (I regret not just trashing the original). That entire Gambling sub forum is a cancer to my brain and needs trashing as well. The amount of unbelievably stupid threads in there is mind-boggling. I think we've had almost every discussion you could possible have about gambling in there and people are only doing it because of shit campaigns like Fortune Jack which force users to have most of their posts in the Gambling sub.

What's the point of merging spam megathreads? There is no productive discussion in such threads, people are just replying same things page after page without reading previous posts. Such threads have to be locked much earlier before they reach 50pages.

Looks like the first thread got deleted.  As for the second one, it's a shit thread and should also be deleted.   "How much can I lose in gambling" was created so that people would have a topic to shitpost in.  I can guarantee the OP doesn't care about the answer.  It's just a question that has an easy answer that'll be give 1000 times if the thread isn't locked or nuked.  No one reads the posts in those threads, and not only shouldn't they be merged, they should be deleted by mods--which is exactly what they're doing recently.

This sort of thing has been discussed in meta a few times.

I think this could be a good idea and reduce the clutter of duplicate posts

While writing a reply, I’ve realized that I haven’t seen any united threads in this forum. I mean that in other forums, very similar posts are often united.

For example: this recent post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--2184987 in another forum would have been united with the older, original one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.12941558

Also, the misspelled heading of the recent one would have disappeared.

I’m asking because if not, that could be a proposal for the new forum.
