Coin rallies aren't lasting very long any more. Doesn't look like there's much new money coming in. Looks like the DAO disaster struck a mighty blow.

"Coin rallies aren't lasting very long any more."

^ This is normal.

And I don't think we are in a bear market. Some altcoins are still very strong atm, and others are not. This is just a normal market condition.

We are of course not in a bull market.

Which altcoins are strong at the moment. Please post them and tell us what you think of each. Because I doubt that your statement is true. The only true strong altcoin I see right now is XMR. They rest are getting weak or are whale pumps.

I am looking towards 2017 has the year that more than 70% of these Altcoins will reach zero value because what people will be asking for will be what is the real world use of this project now and if it can not solve or proffer any solution it will be bye-bye and become history

speculation is what underpins everything and that ain't going anywhere any time soon, or probably ever. people are pumping coins that are 100% broken.

no one cares about real world use. they might when something is actually being used, but on the other hand that might stoke a fresh wave of speculation just in case something else breaks through.

I think alt bullshit is only going to grow over time.

I don't believe we are in a bear market yet, because I can still foresee increase in Bitcoin price, and one of the signs of a bear market is when greed reach another height/level and we are not there yet. Many non-anon coins are dropping now. There are not enough btc for the alts to sustain such high value. Bitcoin is rising which will create selling pressure for many alts. The alts crash will be epic and we could see the price below 50% of the current price

i think yes because bitcoin is in a bull market, and we all know that when btc rise the alt get down to the floor, but some might stand there until the next pump, but lol actually i don't recall any bull market in the altcoin scene, it's all a pump and dump lmao

there has never been new money coming in as far as i can tell. it's just the same bunch of people jumping from coin to coin hoping to take btc off the gullible.

Re:
ETH "made gains" ? it's at $11.71 now and was over $20 for ages.
What kind of drugs are you on ?

And since you said that and slid in Monero i have to question that also.

Ethereum sickens me.
It needs to die.. the scam coin ICO DAPPS bullshit needs to go.

tune them lower ...

R13 or whatever the banker Blyth Masterbates group is won't let it slide (im guessin) below $9
because they own it ... and can pay the fees to fake volume trade.

ETC stands a chance since it hovers just above the ICO cost of entry and must become a real decentralized project.

outside ETH, ETC, XCP, omni, bts, nxt ... there is little room left at the real profit table for smart contract / asset platforms.

so those are the assets primed for Banker orgie.

if you want to help aid common man projects ... still murky ... maybe EXP?  DCR looks truthful.

BTC to the moon is inevitable...

as long as i can remember the altcoin market was like this , maybe some times with more heat than these days but it has always been like this. a coin comes out of its winter sleep and gets pumped to the moon and then slowly dies. and the periods of this pump only depended on how many are going to trade it.

The other question would be if we were in a bull market in the first place. The only coins that I have seen make big gains are ETH and then XMR. The rest have made some but they could not be considered big. In a real bull market everyone makes money even the newbies. Make any pick and that will be a winner most of the time.

There are too many clones, alts with nothing new, and even for the established ones the development slowed down a lot.
I cannot expect in this conditions to see a generalized bull market, where "everyone makes money even the newbies".
That's right,  and not enough suckers coming in to keep the money machine running.   But I don't think people have quite woken up to the fact that these new coins are all shite.  Every one of them.  Wouldn't call this a bear market.  Maybe a turndown or something.

I would not generalize. The big example is XMR, which rose quite a lot. Now it's the correction time, but it may remain pretty high.
Waves is falling because all I see there are delays and more delays.
DASH is depleting slowly, since people seem to move to different (more anonymous?) currencies.
Quite a lot of coins had no development at all or they are behind schedule, the summer vacation took its toll.
And Bitcoin is on the rise again, which means that some get the money out of alts and go playing with BTC.

But winter is coming. And I expect some coins get back on track and rise again.

I would rather call it consolidation after seeing some insane rallies since the beginning of the year.

If you look where most big risers are now, they are still easily at 2-10x the original value of the beginning of the year. Doesn't look to bad to me imo.

Bitcoin moving a bit also slows down alts, as people don't want to get caught in alts when bitcoin suddenly rises 10%.
