I think UBI is definitely better than the welfare system, but ideally I would just like to see taxes gradually abolished. People know better what to spend their money on.

This is the correct way of thinking, but to achieve that you'd have to reduce the State, perhaps even abolish it...

Indeed, anything given by the State to you, makes you dependent to said State. UBI is very socialist in nature, and socialism means big State, which means bureaucracy, corruption and, taxes...

In short, I'm against UBI. Now GET BACK TO WORK Smiley

Free money ultimately doesn't work. Why? If there is equality in freedom, who needs to work? Just spend the free money, right? But if nobody works, where will goods and services come from? Thin air?

The greatest advancements in the recent world have come about because of the Federal Reserve Ponzi fiat money scheme that we are all part of. When it crashes (as all Ponzis do), at least some of us in countries near the top of the Ponzi will have some benefit.

The USA is probably the top country in the Ponzi. Americans will be hurt in the crash. But if they can get back to work, they also have great natural resources so that they can survive.

Federal Government is tied closely to the banking system, and the FED, and the money Ponzi. We don't really need the Federal Government anymore. The States can do everything the Federal can do, and better, because they know what their people need locally. https://kokeshforpresident.com/

No.

GMI > UBI.

Silly mod deleted my "LQC", except it was the only unique comment in the thread. The idea of UBI came from the idea of GMI.

I think as robot starting to replace the human in most jobs, people should start experimenting UBI.  They will still be owned by profit driven companies.I think UBI is definitely better than the welfare system. UBI is impossible in current situation.Since we aren't even close to the robot thing, UBI will only be used to eliminate more of the middle class.

but this already started many decades ago. what happened to the auto industry? They generated a huge amount of jobs in the past, that were shrinking over time. What we see today is an expansion of this process, in a few years the artificial intelligence will be also able to replace intellectual work.

The only way UBI has a chance of working is if robots ... can do every last job that people do. ... there will always be some jobs people will have to do, and those people will want to get paid more.

Since we aren't even close to the robot thing, UBI will only be used to eliminate more of the middle class. The rich will get richer, and the poor will get poorer.

Cool

Completely agree. And I would like to add: UBI is not helping the "poor". Most UBI projects are run in the "rich" countries, just because of the fact, that countries in poverty don't have the needed money to distribute. There does not exist something for nothing in this world, meaning something completely free. And all the UBI projects out there need funding. Yes, maybe "rich" people fear that the "poor" will come for them and so it is in their best interest that the "poor" are not to poor. We will see.

UBI is impossible in current situation. No one wants share their income. That's natural, but I liked the idea of UBI.

The only way UBI has a chance of working is if robots remain without intelligence, yet can do every last job that people do. If robots don't exist like this, there will always be some jobs people will have to do, and those people will want to get paid more.

A lot of interesting research is being made about UBI right now.

There are a ton of videos about it, and also good articles on mainstream media like Wired, The Guardian, New York Times and so on.

Experiments have been made in developed countries, and surely if it is a 1-world country where naturally the economy is so developed that it can afford people to do whatever they want - people there are highly conscious and won't just sit around.

I believe people are naturally inclined toward progress and self-development, and are going to discover what they like and grow eventually.

Another point is that with the rise of AI and machinery some people are going to lose their jobs and that the risk of poverty and falling consumption is high enough to be able to just give people money to live on

So UBI is good in my opinion. It's gonna really shift our perspectives on how we we deal with issues nowadays

What do you mean by Universal Basic Income?
UBI is like what?
in my opinion, which can increase the happiness of citizens is the security and government policy that fully supports the people. now there are so many of them because there is very little job, so many people are unemployed and end up doing evil to earn money.

UBI will be needed in the future with the automation of most jobs.  I think we should have UBI now though, studies have shown that people don't actually work less and it lowers crime and raises the happiness of citizens.

How are robots going to support UBI?   They will still be owned by profit driven companies...

All that really matters is the productivity, governments can have some type of robot tax or something.  We are able to make more than enough but we do a bad job at sharing our resources.

I think as robot starting to replace the human in most jobs, people should start experimenting UBI, but it's not yet the right time to generalize it, it should just be in form of experiments so that in the future, when robot replaces a 100% the human, it will be easy to implement UBI system worldwide.
