Zotac 1070Ti mini is very good.

Much better then regular Gigabyte Windforce 1070Ti (rumble noise, bad fans).
I replaced it with Zotac mini.
Mostly better hashrates and quieter.

yeah fwiw we got some zotac mini in last month that did not perform as well, silicon memory lottery I guess xD

Hey Vosk, I'm new to the whole Gpu mining rig building,i love the trio setup,  just wanted to ask if there's any way i can stick 3 full size ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti AMP Extreme onto a single board ? and if so which motherboard would suggest i can buy for better spacing of the gpu's?

Hey guys, long time Vosk watcher, about to take the plunge and build my first TRIO build, definitely found this thread and had the exact same question...
Q1) using the Z270P-D3 mobo, can I just stack 3 full size EVGA 1080 ti's? do I have to have a mini at the end?

Just starting out doing a proof of concept (got the wife on board Smiley ), so I am going power density over strict efficiency or I would go 1070ti. Looking at my next rig, I know you have experience with the Onda B250 (saw video), but the D1800 seems attractive as well.
Q2)Have y'all stuffed a D1800 full of 1070ti or 1080 ti's?

- thanks for the great info guys, supporting the community so much

You need a Mini (or one of the Gigabyte ITX or MSI similar-size cards) at the end slot, as there is ZERO SPACE between the middle card and the end card, so the only airflow into the middle card is going into the part of the end fan that the Mini leaves unblocked.
This was my standard configuration for my "Folding" rigs as risers KILL throughput on Folding (there is a LOT of work done on the CPU and a LOT of bandwidth needed for data transfer, even a PCI 2.0 8x slot shows measurable impact on Folding PPD on high end cards).
If you used hybrid cards, PROBABLY you could get away with 3 full-length cards as most of the cooling is via the radiator - that would definitely work on one of the "full card waterblock cooling" type cards like the MSI Seahawk.
If you are going to go the watercooled route though, you might want to go with one of the "4 full-length PCI-E slots" motherboards like the Biostar Racing Z170GT7 or the alternatives from ASROCK, ASUS and the like - if you can find one at a reasonable price.

Phil has posed about a build with one of the Onda boards (the one with the wider spacing I think?) that will end up with 4 1080 ti and 4 1070 ti cards on it.

Hybrid cards are definitely nice for high rig density, but ghods the COST compared to a good air-cooled card.

Might be the ONLY viable option for some folks in hot+wet climates though.

The Newegg "Vega 56" sale at $409 seems to have been a very short-time thing, probably Black Friday targeted, and pre-dated the widespread "vega KILLS Monero mining" knowlage spread that has since caused the card supply to disappear.

The Amp Extreme (like the Aorus) is WAY too big to fit 3 on a board and still be able to COOL the things, you pretty much are limited to 2 + whatever more you put on risers.

Even if you CAN find one of the rare boards that allow 1-4-7 spacing like the various Gigabyte -UD7 varients, it's STILL not enough space between the cards for tolerable airflow.

You MIGHT be able to fit 4 on one of those Onda mining-specific boards, one every OTHER slot, and be able to cool them.

The Zotac Mini 1070 ti model matches the performance of my EVGA SC cards, except ir runs a coupe degrees warmer when both are at the same "high efficiency" settings.
I just don't trust the fans, as they do NOT appear to be ball-bearing models, and I've flat out stopped even LOOKING at non-ball-bearing fan GPU models any more after having *4* Gigabyte cards with cheap fans flake out on me in the last month.

those boards are very good 4 four fat  1080ti's pushed

but  those boards are amazing for evga hybrid  1080 ti's
and for msi  seahawks the 1080 ti versions.

It is a very interesting subject for me.
I am looking at zotac mini for price and the small size

But why do you need to make a video !
I like the foxes and the dogs or the children of them, but i hate youtube.

A simple webpage would be more usefull and less dangerous to see at office !

I have watched most of voskcoins videos and they are excellent for people new to rig building. Even old timers might pick up a few tips.

Vosk, get that series out you are promising about your mining rig room/shed/factory or whatever it is  Grin

haha appreciate that ! thanks for the kind words I'm just trying to document this crazy journey and help out the community the best I can

Absolutely high on the priority list -- what specific things would you like to see covered in the redneck data center/mini mining shed lol

I have 1080 ti zotac mini among others and they are giving about 30 sols less if that helps. However, you can overclock them more then the other brands/models, but still they give a bit less sols. Bying price was less then the others, also. Just pay attention to heat on those mini`s. So it happened to me when one of those got heated up to like 70°C (summer), one of the fans stopped. Fans are mounted on a heatsink alu block and i believe that heat got all the parts of the fan to spread a bit, hence stopping the fan. When the card cooled off, fan started working normally. One thing about your 3 card rigs setup caught my eye the first time i`ve watched your videos and that is that you don`t really have space between the cards. For these minis, you`ll need some space, but 1070 ti`s could be heating less then 1080 ti...
Apprecaite all the input man! This summer was definitely toasty for the farm . . fortunately now that its cooler out the normal temp of the farm area is 50-60 F

we're working on a website and updating it more regularly www.VoskCoin.com but itscryptochick is the one mainly running it as I spend 100% of my time currently working on the farm/research/videos/my normal FT job

Hey guys here's my latest video on specifically the Zotac 1070 TI Mini for GPU mining
https://youtu.be/-WuMd5ZdwFU

Phil put me onto the trio build which he designed -- it's a 1080 TI / 1080 TI / Mini card -- there's been a couple variations since then but its definitely one of the best beginner rigs to build or for hobby miners

I (and Phil and many others) run these Mini cards with efficient settings, so basically every cards power consumption is turned down 30%+ this gives us higher sols per watt and thus the card runs cooler and ideally maintains better longevity.
