If we are strictly talking about hypocrisy within the context of political and social behavior, then I am sure there is a little bit of it inside all people in the planet, because our personal selfishness sometimes pushes us to believe we are the exception to the rules of our society, so we act out in secret, breaking the same rules we say are supposed to be in place to protect us and protect others. The easiest example with be how corruption goes rampant in western societies, specially those who are not as organized as the so-called "developed countries" or " first world countries".
In the case of women being sexualized, it comes from the fact in the majority of dominant societies, in which religion has been an important oart of the founding of their country and constitution, the sexuality of women has been kind of turned into a taboo topic.
Specially in Islam the figure of women are quite repressed and displaced with compared to the figure of men and masculinity.

It is a contradiction between our sense of wanted all people of all genders to be equality treated and our social construct with roots within Christianity, Islam and even Judaism.

There is nothing like hypocrisy in this case. How do you expect a woman to expose the sensitive part of her body in public? Both sexes don't have the same body structures. Men have chests while women have breasts and it is generally believed that the female part is sensitive. It is common to see men topless because the male chest has not been sexualized globally. I don't know if females are attracted by the chest of a man but I know that the breast of women can arouse the sexual urge of a man. If a female goes topless in my area she might be seen as insane and taken to a psychiatric hospital.

the sensitive part of the male body is not on the top of his body like that of the the female that contains the breast which somany people consider a private part. In most setting, as a man, you could afford to walk round the street in bare chest with mere nickers and no one would make a big deal of it but when it's unlike exposing your breast just because you're trying to prove the gender equality concept right.

Everyone has the right to wear whatever dress he chooses to put on but a mother ought to at least respect her husband enough not to dress inappropriately in public. The real hypocrisy would be when a man is wearing pants on the street while refusing the woman to do so.

If you even check, women tend to enjoy way more advantages than men in terms of what they are allowed to do while the male can't do same so if in the aspect of proper dressing there is a projection of an idea that woman have to cover more of themselves than the men, it's certainly moderate and understandable.

Actually, the intention is what makes the act moral or immoral. And it becomes hypocricy when the men who are against women being topless with immoral intentions are themselves going topless with immoral intentions.
And most times we need to be less selfish about the act even if it's done for the right reasons. To be less selfish is to be concerned about what being topless does to others. Is it making them sexually lust after people who aren't their wives or husband? if yes then it's better to cover up or avoid being topless in public to prevent such people from derailing from the right path. This is actually what true love means — being less selfish for the sake of the well-being of others.

We could ask the girls how they feel about topless men. If they say sexual, then we avoid it too. But I think the right intentions and innocence in topless act could make the appearance look harmless or less sexual

if men want to control what woman do or dont wear.. that man should remain single with no one to control

to badecker:
even god wanted woman to be naked according to the original campfire story of origins. however when the camp fire stories became books and paintings. priests got too horny seeing a naked eve on display so asked artists to cover her chest with either her hair or leafs. and later they started writing how it was a sin to lust over women.. and so to avoid men getting horny, the women had to cover up... rather then the men respectfully not looking

its like the natural event of breastfeeding. social qualms about seeing a breast feeding woman has shamed women into hiding and not feeding their kid in public

Women have a greatness that men don't have. They have built within their bodies a method for 'manufacturing' new people. Topless women in public is a disrespect to all women in general, and to the idea of their special position in life... the great job that they have of 'manufacturing' people for their man.

Aren't we all hypocrites?

My opinion for myself, yes, I am.

Aren't you?

Before start explaining it by giving my example and questioning you same, let me tell you that I have no intention to shame anybody whether men or women.

Please just don't get offended or start shaming anybody because of their thinking in the matter.  I would request everybody to please be polite and be respectful and be on the topic on hypocrisy.

Let's start:

In my country I live in it is quite normal (if not totally absolutely normal) for men to be topless at own house's balconies, lawns, etc. and even many public spaces.  In fact, our film industry showcases men being topless (especially front) as being heroic or something very quality content and most of public also sees these actors as such.  Even actor's family and public have no problem as such with it.  Most of men (even non-actors) doing these kind of things are considered normal.

But when it would come to actress doing these things, they will be shamed and hallmarked adult.  Why is that difference? When at the current century we are talking about being men and women being equal, but here just being opposite (at least in my country)?  Shouldn't we consider females doing these things normal, like what we think about men?

Well for me, being a father of daughters, I won't hesitate and would actually be proud of being one of the hypocrites (& I don't want females showing front top being normalized in the country, at least for now) and I am pretty sure I am not the only one who would be proud to be hypocrites!!

Start sharing your thoughts.  Again, I would request everybody please be respectful.
