Nice project, even people who don't bother do research could avoid scam this way. But i've few question :
1. How do you classify a scam project? Sometimes project that fail isn't much different from scam project. Besides, just because it's official website, that doesn't mean it's not scam.
2. Any plans to show information on site that user visit and available on your database? Some proof/research would be useful for few users.
3. Any guarantee that you won't working with scammer and show the page as green/gray shield?

Hey there ETFbitcoin, first of all, thank you for the compliment, and LOVE your username, hope it happens soon!  Grin

To answer your questions :

1 - From our perspective scams are people that try to make you think they are someone they're not, to steal your money.

We do not judge projects, there are already plenty of experienced influencers and users on all the social platforms that chime in with their opinions after doing extensive research on all the projects, we don't think it is our role to tell you on what you should invest.

Our mission with this tool is to ensure that once you've decided to support a certain project with your money, that it's that exact project that receives your tokens, and not a fake version of it, and same for Twitter, we protect you against the people trying to impersonate ICOs, cryptos, celebrities etc ..

2 - What informations would you like to see on the visited site ? For now we show a green or red bar to either inform you that the website is OK or SCAM.
But we do have some ideas in this regard, and we're VERY OPEN to all the suggestions, please do share, either here or in private whichever you prefer Smiley

3 - That's a great question, and as I said in a previous post, we're in this for the long run, we didn't do any ICO, we invested a lot of our own money to create a good software (https://deepcoin.com) that is our main product, and the extension as a freemium to use all that data we have for something good that serves the community.

We will never risk geopordizing all of this for a quick buck, that's our guarantee, and I understand it's worth what it's worth, but with time we hope that our trustworthiness will be obvious to everyone.

TBH, i didn't expect you would make your extension open-source. However, i couldn't find link to the source code on your website/chrome store.

There are some chrome extensions that allow to see any extension's code, or you could also navigate to the extensions folder that's somewhere on your computer.

So first, install Deepcoin Protect : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/deepcoin-protect/koakfkpogejakladamempmjfpnlogmgl

Then, you can install this extension to see it's code : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-extension-source-v/jifpbeccnghkjeaalbbjmodiffmgedin?hl=en Cheesy

  • it automatically detect scammy accounts on twitter and warn you about them,
Even those that aren't on your database? If "YES", how?

Yep, even those that aren't in our database, let's just say that it's done algomagically Wink

All feedbacks are welcome, we truly value your opinions and look forward to hear what you think and how we could improve, feel free to leave us a comment below !
In addition to what "AdolfinWolf" (great questions) posted, even though it appears targeted at phishing websites, you might want to add other types of websites from "Badbitcoin.org (The Badlist)" as well.

That's a great idea, and indeed one of the features that will be rolled out very soon, the integration of 3rd party scam databases like badbitcoin, etherscamdb, etc.

And what exactly do you have to gain from it? Do i give this tool access to read all my data/browsing history/browsing habits?

I'm a bit skeptical, especially since i suspect that this addon is pretty intrusive/needs to be pretty intrusive to work, (aka reading/scanning everything i do with the browser)..

Is it open source or anything?

Hello AdolfinWolf,

Those are perfectly reasonable questions and we're happy to clear things up.

First of all, I want to be very clear on this one : NO we do NOT store any of your browsing data, history and habits, that is specified in our detailed privacy policy that you can check here, if such was the case we would not hide it as that would be against Google chromestore's terms and we'd risk everything, on top of the fact that it wouldn't be inline with the vision we have for this.

Like many extensions that rely on the websites you're visiting to accomplish their job (Adblock being one of the most used examples) we do indeed need to read the url of the websites you're browsing and the content of the page in the case of Twitter in order to protect you in real-time.

The code source of the extension is visible to anyone but the part that verifies the data against our database is proprietary, however, you'll be happy to know that our extension has already gone through 2 review procedures by the Google Chrome review teams and came out of it approved Smiley

Our goal with this extension is truly to help make the crypto-ecosystem safer and offer something of value, our main product is https://deepcoin.com , a b2b tool that monitors everything being said everywhere in the blockchain world, the extension is a freemium born from the amounts of data that we gathered, we thought it could be very useful to many in this extension format, and yes, may be serve as a nice advertising to our b2b software.

This is the first version of a multi-featured extension that we envision being a part of the day to day life of every crypto enthusiast, you can be sure we will not do anything to jeopardize that for a quick buck.

Give it a try, and keep the feedbacks coming, we're in this for the long run, and you can expect a lot of improvements in the upcoming weeks.

After months of preparation, we're happy to announce that our free anti-scam chrome extension is finally ready and available on the chrome store.

If you're wondering how is it any different from the couple solutions that already exist, keep reading !

What's deepcoin Protect ?

So first of all, what's deepcoin Protect you might ask ?

Deepcoin Protect is a chrome extension that protects you from phishing scams, and makes sure the website, social channel or wallet you're interacting with is the official one and not a fake.

It serves not only as a protection against scams, but also as a directory of all the official channels of crypto projects, as it gives you the list of all the channels of the project you're visiting, be it cryptos, exchanges, agencies, news sites or influencers.

How does it work exactly ?

It will sit quietly in your chrome's toolbar, and you'll be able to tell in a second if you're visiting a real website or not, simply by looking at the badge that appears on the icon, it will indicate different states :

  • green shield : the page (website or social channel) you're on is an official one validated by us, meaning that it's the one the crypto project's team listed on their official website
  • dark green shield : it's the official one and it was confirmed to us by the crypto administrators themselves
  • red shield : it's a known phishing scam and you should stay as far away as you can.
  • gray shield : is for unknown channels that are not listed in our database yet.

The extension leverages our database, that we spent months working on, mining data from multiple sources, organizing and filtering everything, and collaborating directly with crypto projects owners to validate the veracity of the information we gathered, and checks the website or channels you're actually visiting against it.

We have listed more than 21000 different channels (websites, social groups etc..) to date on 17 different platforms and have attached them to their official entities and we started the process of getting as many of them certified by the actual team by reaching out and collaborating directly with them.

The other feature of the extension is the ability to check any wallet address against our database containing both official crypto wallets and scammers wallets that we encountered and/or were flagged by our community, to be sure that you're sending your cryptos to the right project / ICO address!

What makes it special ?

What makes Deepcoin Protect are 2 exclusive features :

  • it automatically detect scammy accounts on twitter and warn you about them, that way it's extremely easy to see when the person you're reading is the real DataDash or someone pretending to be him!
  • it lists all the official channels of the entity you're visiting and takes you there in just a click.

What's next ?

Our main goal going forward is to continue improving the extension, both on the UI and data fronts, to make it as useful, protective and up to date as possible, all the while adding more features to it.

All feedbacks are welcome, we truly value your opinions and look forward to hear what you think and how we could improve, feel free to leave us a comment below !

Note : It's important to understand that we do not make any subjective judgement on cryptos and ICO projects, it is still your responsibility to do your research and chose the projects you want to back with your money, what this extension does, once you've decided, is to make sure you are indeed interacting with projectAcme and not pr0jectAcme ( with a zero instead of the letter o ).
