In the view of most asking this utterly clueless question they are not asking *can* it be done in principal as a research/science-fair project or marketing stunt. Any idjit except a troll knows they are talking about making positive income from them.

Is using arm-based processors possible?  Does the architecture support efficient hashing?

The days of CPU mining are past, they won't come back ever again. If a company wants to compete in Bitcoin mining, they have to come up with an ASIC chip designed solely for SHA256D

For the millionth time, Bitcoin mining requires ASIC-based machines. ANY type of CPU or GPU scheme will not work, Period. End of story. Bye-bye!
Will work, will not be profitable.

Linking 40 phones into a mining node as an exercise in 'see it can be done' is not what they mean and you know it...

The hash rates won't be anywhere near worth mining, even for altcoins. You can use something like a raspberry pi to hook up a USB ASIC miner or something like that.

Try 1st reading about how mining coins works, browse through the Forum and READ it for a bit before asking such a stupid question.

Mining the thousand other crypto coins that are NOT Bitcoin, sure. For those, check the ALTCOIN areas of the Forum.
