I like armory offline nature more than the faster, smaller but more online electrum.
AFAIK, you could use Electrum to create and manage an offline wallet easily as well.

i have not tried armory myself. i'm a big fan of electrum, though. great for a perpetual newbie such as myself, and no need to download the entire blockchain. 
Me niether, i used electrum also, but i dont keep anything big there, just some "pocket money" for fast transactions, so that i dont need to sync my local wallet everytime.
I never trust web based wallets too much,as you never know what will happen next..

Why would one wallet be better for gambling than another? Both are equal. And not, armory is the opposite of light weight. It requires you to download the whole blockchain.
For now blockchain weights 23GB and still growing... For some people this is big drawback.

I personally prefer Armory. Didn`t used many times Electrum
I prefer Electrum - I am not technical at all and find it much more intuitive to use
It's a lot more user friendly and faster to run than most of the other trusted wallets but it's not the best option for security but having said that you can create a paper wallet on there.

If you are looking for the most secure and feature rich wallet then get armory. No other wallet has the encryption features armory has, for protecting your private keys.

I'm looking for a non-hosted wallet, and I've narrowed down my choices to Armory or Electrum, since I don't have the resources to support Bitcoin Core, and MultiBit has some bugs that aren't preferred for what I'm doing.
So which one would you choose to hold your Bitcoin? Armory or Electrum?
Also let's say I have an nondescript number of Bitcoin waiting to be moved, for this we'll say 3BTC.

Both clients are great. Electrum is more user-friendly and Armory has more features.
IMO if you are talking about a small amount of bitcoin, it is better to use Electrum.
But if you have a significant amount of bitcoin, I think it deserves some of your time to set up an offline Armory wallet.
Is he using the word 'resources' for dependencies and blocks or just dependencies?

Would choose Electrum for it's quickness and simplicity, not having to download the entire blockchain is a huge bonus. Ideally if you're storing a substantial amount of btc I would use Bitcoin Core or Armory

If you have 137 BTC, I would put 125BTC in an Armory offline wallet and have it secured and sleep soundly at night. The other 12 BTC can be used in Electrum for day to day type transactions.

they have different purposes. if it really is either or, then Electrum.
Armory is good for cold storage. i have my cold storage on QT because i haven't touched it in so long, but i prefer Multibit for my desktop hot wallet. Electrum is nice too.
I chose Electrum, I use the good
PC wallet but lighter, do not need to download the full data like bitcoin-qt & Armory
2-3 minutes also sync if a new install (depending on the number of transactions on the address page)

Now a days, Armory is better. It provides better security but you will have to download whole blockchain. You can download bootstrap.dat and copy it into wallet directory. Many BTC stealing Malwares and Trojans has came. So it is better to choose more secure wallet than lighter wallet. You can also avoid getting stolen by installing good antivirus and removing non-trusted softwares.

Electrum. I don't have enough funds to be super sensitive and make proper paper wallets and everything so it's enough for me to just write down the seed. Plus it's just so fast. Everything from the installation to general use, it's amazing imo. And it's written in my favorite language.

Agreed. After having it hog my resources for a week, I switched to Electrum. Much better.
I have not tried armory and I have only been using electrum for a couple of months. Cannot give you a comparison, I can only say there is nothing I dislike about electrum.
Electrum is more user friendly, I'd recommend it for people without any previous experience.
But overall I prefer Armory because of it's security, and btw I would not exclude Multibit, it's not so buggy.

Yes, you have to dl blockchain, but who cares? Anytime I can import some of my pr. keys to any lightweight wallet if I need.

As a non-tech kind of guy, mark another vote down for Electrum.

I'm new but I used Multibit since a year and never had any problem with it, maybe I was lucky but I think it's a great wallet.
If you want your Bitcoin to be secure then you should use Armory otherwise if you aren't to bothered or don't know how to use the advanced features of the wallet then you should use Electrum as it's newbie friendly and pretty straight forward.

I prefer Electrum because it is not only a deterministic wallet (meaning that I can backup the private keys of all my generated addresses and future addresses by just writing down the seed) but it is also a SPV client (very easy to use).
If you need a client for regular transactions then I will recommend electrum wallet, because In Armory you have to download whole blockchain, unless you want to run offline armory.
