I think the executable is corrupt. I tried downloading the Armory tar.gz for my new MacBook; the program appears briefly in the dock then quits right away.

Corrupt blockchain issue. You need to redownload the chain.

First you should run the DB on its own see if it can get past the chain organizing issue, which occurs because it can't read that one block.

If it can't, you need to wipe your blockchain data and start from the top.

You either have a bad block around 310k or your computer is unstable enough it leads to that, or both.

At any rate, start ArmoryDB alone and let it run past that point. If it can't get past, your blockchain is definitely corrupt.

So now I have completely downloaded the blockchain through Core and am trying to get Armory to use its blockchain instead of it running bitcoind in the background itself. I was having issues when starting ArmoryQT first where it gave me the error "failed to spawn DB" but when I opened the DB first, it seemed to work fine. THen upon opening Armory, seemed like everything was working, but now it is stalled at organizing blockchain in both the db and the gui...Is this something that is supposed to take a lot of time or do I need to do something different?

Armory's DB is tied to the layout of your blockchain data. If you wipe the blockchain data, you need to wipe the db as well. But that's not what matters right now. What you want atm is to redownload the blockchain. Just start BitcoinQt and let that run till it's done.

ive uninstalled and reinstalled, but the same issue happened. How can I redownload just the chain or use a new copy?

You'll need to delete the block chain files in your Bitcoin folder.

You have corrupted block data around #310000. You'll have to redownload the chain or use a different copy.

This happens at exactly 42% of scanning transaction history.  Ive also tried running core on its own and stopping armorys in wallet one, but that hasnt worked either.

Here is the dblog file...https://pastebin.com/erKiQAXM

Any help would be very appreciated!
