I think one reason for the gap between supply and demand in AI data scientists is to do with change in mentality. This is to say that decades ago no one had really thought about AI running the world because the technology expansion that we see today simply wasn't there. But now we getting closer to having the right tools so we start to think that its possible to create AI that can take over laborious tasks. Since this is a relatively new move in the demand market the supply is low as it also takes time to get the experienced scientist every one is after.

Artificial General Intelligence has been an are scientists and governments have been devoting a lot of time and money trying to figure out a way. Scientists believe it can change the future of humanity in that AGI in a way will make devices more intelligent just like or beyond humans and can therefore act proactively. With respect to why there is a low supply of AI professionals I can't say much but for the demand, I know a lot of research are going on about AGI and hence it is no surprise that the demand for AI professionals is on the increase

I was just thinking about AI, because I uploaded a picture that uses "AI" to clean up and improve a low resolution. And I was thinking that the term AI is being used for everything. There's no artificial intelligence going on, rather a program is running, just like they've been running for over 60 years and performing calculations.

The C-suite and corporate management’s excitement for AI’s various applications is building and then once they have bought into the concept (which is happening much more rapidly), they want to make it real right away.
