Betting on -0.5 is the same as betting for the team to win the match. However, you would like to bet on the the weaker team not to lose, you would have to select +0.5. Although it is the same as betting on the weaker team and draw, usually +0.5 offer high odds than betting the 2 results individually.

Yes, that would be correct. I don't know why any site would offer +0.5 or -0.5 as it is pointless since it would make no difference to the actual score.Just giving my example here to make sure if I got it or not.

well asian handicap i love the most is that when there is a draw, it will be considered a push and you can get back your money.

Asian handicap in a nutshell is adding additional goals to underdog teams and subtracting goals from favorite teams. So for example if you have Arsenal -1 that means Arsenal have to win with a goal difference of 2 goals for your bet to win. In the case of Arsenal winning with only 1 goal that means your bet pushes and your stake will be returned.
