We’ve heard of casual mining, professional large scale mining, but we’ve never heard of an animation studio mining!

NextMedia Animation, one of Asia’s largest animation studios, has started experimenting with Dogecoin in a very interesting way.

NextMedia ran an experiment in February where everyone who left a comment a specific YouTube video of their’s would receive a tip of 100 Dogecoins. With over 170 comments on their video, and over 17,000 Dogecoins given away, the experiment was such a success that the animation company is now in the process of setting up their own Dogecoin mining operation. Having their own Dogecoin mining operation will enable NextMedia Animations to “mine” new Dogecoins that they could then reward to their engaged community.

According to one of their employees, NextMedia Animation is “in the middle of a big overhaul that will see us refocus our mobile apps and our website presence and aim to bring more content and be very interactive with our viewers.”. The animation studio has expressed that they are intrigued by the idea of “micro tipping Dogecoins”, an act of rewarding good behavior with free Dogecoins that has grown in popularity on sites like Reddit.

Not a fan of Dogecoins? It’s going to be ok. NextMedia has also stated that “DOGE isn’t the only crypto we’re thinking of dealing with, but it’ll be the first when we eventually get to the point to release it on our platform”.

Even though they are still experimenting, it is incredibly exciting to see new and innovative use cases for crypto currencies. Who knows… maybe we’ll start giving out coins to people who comment on our articles…
