This asic is a joke. The prototypes never got to production. They were only able to manufacture a few hundred and never sold them to the public because there were too many problems and completely unstable.

that is total bullshit. they are surprisingly stable.
I have 2 here, so my information is not based on hearsay, but on actual facts.

Well the main asdic builder of record is most likely innosilicon and they are costly items.

hash rate reach 388th

10 days ago it was 359th

that is 29th in ten days.

since 1th is 1620 nvidia 3070

they added 29 x 1620 = 46980 3070 Gpus in 10 days

so in 100 days we could be at 388+290 = 678 th.

100 days is May 23 I think.

If we grow to 678th by may 23rd.

I smell a crash.

we could drop to 3 cents an mh from current 12 cents an mh

This asic is a joke. The prototypes never got to production. They were only able to manufacture a few hundred and never sold them to the public because there were too many problems and completely unstable. Instead they decided to keep them and mine with them themselves and one or two other partners since there would be too many service issues and blowback from failure if they sold them to anyone else. They all have 4.4gb , and are end of life’d this summer anyway as DAG crosses 4.4. They are currently working on an 8+ gb model and will not even start manufacturing them at the earliest next year which again being so close to PoS at that point and given the issues they had with the prototypes it’s likely they’ll just mine themselves on them for a year until PoW ends. Too late now to start all over and manufacture any in any real quantity to sell before PoS, especially given the massive global chip shortage which affects them as well. Basically they failed to get into production on time and failed to meet quality and reliability standards. It’s unfortunate for them, but Great for gpu miner as they pose no real threat.  They also aren’t really even significant more efficient than gpus these days anyway, especially the 5600xt. Plus when these are end of life’d they are worth $0. At least with gpus you can resell them.

That will not stop them for wanting to scam buyers now ehhe, if they use the hype well right now will be many people wanting to buy each unit for 15k each hehe

95% of asics are meant to scam people anyway.

The telegram channel had news that sales would not start in the coming weeks:

"Wolf @Linzhi, [27.01.21 17:47]
NOTE: General sales of the Linzhi Phoenix Ethash miner have not yet started, and will not start for several weeks at least. Anyone claiming to sell units is most likely a scammer.

Wolf @Linzhi, [27.01.21 17:48]
(general members cannot post messages in this group for the time being, only admins can)"

Beware of scammers!

So it is smart they will most likely just mine it and not sell them.

The sales window closes.

Since Sept or Oct it bricks for Eth

I would mine them out if I were  them.

I wonder how many they have running.

10 of them is 26gh
100 of them is 260gh
1000 of them is 2600gh or 2.6th
10000 of them is 26000gh of 26th.

I am guessing they have a minimum of 500 of them.

I don't think they have 10,000 of them.

Innosilicon most likely has way more of their asics which will not brick as quickly.

I think I read they ordered 38 wafers of chips back in 2018.  Not sure how many chips per wafer.

Maybe 1000 x 38 = 40,000 some will be shitty.

I am not sure how many chips to a miner 40 so 40000/40= 1000

my guess is they did more than a typical MOQ of 500.

so 1000 units. I think they are simply going to mine.  If Eth super moons they may sell this gear in April it shows in may and you would be lucky to break even.

With progpow you customize your algorithm to perfectly fit on an already existing die. In essence you make that die an ASIC for a given algorithm.

This will always run "hot" because you simply use every transistor of your chip. (which is intended)

But of course you can run a GPU at:
-low voltage low frequency but higher efficiency
or run
-full throttle but lower efficiency.
(Asics are modified to do just that all the time, but the gains and losses in hashrate will be linear!!!)

So you wont see a situation where you can lower core clock and "keep" the same hashrate.
(This is not possible, and if it is possible, an asic can be created).

So an algorithm like eth where a huge die is underutilized and simply memory bandwidth limited can not be the final solution at all.
And here we are ...

PS: And at last, yes even an ASIC can eg. be created for progpow. But that ASIC would then also classify as a GPU or at the very least a compute accelerator.

Current DAG calcs predicts DAG will exceed 4.4GB on July 20th 2021.. I suspect that will be more like end of June or very early July 2021 in reality.
When I read the news on the Telegram channel, I remembered the date on August 7, 2021. After this date, ASIC will probably mine Ethereum Classic. There are 6 months left before the end of Ethereum aining on this ASIC, and there is no information on official sales yet
inno a11 2ghs 8gb will replace this on october, well asic will dominate again on gpu mining, we need other algo to replace ethash

progpow is doable but with less profit and hotter, sadly no pow coin big enough to replace eth mining, hope change in the futures

Maybe there is an ram hardware update to 5/6GB.

Or you can use it for an other altcoin ( like e3 for etc) it can be still profitable.  Depends on price of the miner.

One month pass, something new?
Did you calculate the profit from these ASICs? $ 345 per day without electricity bills.
I wouldn't sell such equipment now.
When the price of Ethereum falls, there will be a lot of mining equipment on the market.

eth is paying 10.41 cents a mh

so 2600 x 10.41 = 270 or so.

biggest problem with these is speed of delivery
and of course how many do they have to sell.

will they jump the diff too much.

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

network hash is up to 359 th

eth is at 1638
fees are nuts.  at viabtc you get 172% a block after viabtc takes their cut.

so eth is really like 1638 x 1.72 = 2817 if you are mining it.

viabtc's payout works as low as 96.2% per block if fees are tiny and it goes as high as fees are for the daily block average.

I have earned as low as 96.2 % on my eth payouts
and this 172% is the best I ever did.

So buying this gear is a gamble as it profit window ends not later then Oct. It is now feb if you get it march 1
7 months is 210 days

210 x 270 = 56,700

But if you get it  May 1

150 x 270 = 40,500   if eth tanks that 40,500 could be way lower.

It is an interesting bet I won't take the bet.  But good luck to any one that takes it.

Only 4.4GB RAM, door stopper in few months.

Linzhi dumping its gear after self-mining for an year I guess.
Isn't it more profitable to add memory and continue mining? Why can't these ASICs be made with 6 or 8 GB memory for yourself?
Because ram chips are expensive. not many can produce it. so manufacture calculates their own profit and do it in minimal and they afraid of pos stuff happens. and also it is good for business to sell asics again, there will not be very promising making asic that will last 10years, people who got your money they will be back again for more money.

Also a lot depends on Your power cost.

Say these exist you pay and wait 100 days.

They go out and build newer  versions with your money.

Maybe three to five units with 6 or 8 gb.

Takes them a month . They now mine with the one you paid for for 70 days. And have multiple improved models added with the cash. So what happens. They score.

Only mentally ill people would buy this. Unless it was three day ship time.

Besides it is 12000 usd plus shipping and maybe trump r
Tax to usa. Makes it a 15k item that does not show up until april.

AMD 5700xt is say 400 you can get 30 for 12k and do 1500 hash for 3000 watts.

All on warranty. 3000 in cash left over. Pays for 30000 kwatts of ten cent power.

You use 120 kwatts a day with 30 5700xt units. So your power would be paid for 250 days.

I purchased three 5700xts this week for 1200. I know I can get 30 by the 1st of feb.
why buy 5700s anymore, wait for 3060 ti to become comin stock , i know hasrate and power is close i guess

Its all about getting the gear.  I have a new space I can fit 50 mobos into it.  Actually more like 100 mobos

amd 5500 xt
amd 5600 xt
amd 5700 xt

nvidia 3060ti
nvidia 3080

all of the above are good enough for my power deal.  So whatever I can get close to oem price,  I get. For me getting legit items with real warranties = very important.

I have a sweetheart power deal. Locked warehouse with security.

In a world of magic where I get everything I want, I would take all 3060ti put 3 on a Onda d1800 board and squeeze in a short 1660ti .

 The board would do 3x60 = 180 + 27 = 207mh at 500-525watts
I would run it with:
 seasonic focus psu 850 watt
 or corsair rm850x psu
with a stick of 8gb samsung ram

I would hook up 6 to a digital logger ethernet control switch so they could power on and off from my house 65 miles away.

I would add 12 rigs every 2 weeks .

but I can't get the parts.

I would buy a few of the op's asic  rigs listed  here if I got them in hand by feb 1st and prices were good.

I think we could be good for most of this year price wise.

Which means I mine when prices are good. And I can return cards if there is a huge crash.

From Coindesk:

The Ethereum network’s directed acyclic graph (DAG) – a component of Ethereum’s PoW algorithm called Ethash – stands at just under 4 gb, while each Linzhi Phoenix only has a 4.4 GB memory. The incumbent A10, on the other hand, can house between 6 and 8 gigabytes, F2 Pool says.

So, it only has 4.4GB.. Its been mining for years then if that's the case, they wouldn't build that in 2020 with that small amount of RAM.
they tipped their hands with the 4.4 gig ram lol, these machines are years old obviously
Yep it is old and was mining till now secretly, they did not sell it to public because it was profitable for them to mine also it could make scandal. i told before more scary part is what they using right now? what speed what asic? eth is last coin which brought us some money after they kill it i dont know mining will be dead too.

I guess the founders are just trying to dump these "insanely" profitable miners on the "unexperienced" miners and new noobs before the higher DAG hits and these become obsolete.. looks like a completed exic scam to me lol

Its been mining for years then if that's the case, they wouldn't build that in 2020 with that small amount of RAM.

now the 383 epochs. Dag file = 4 GB
400 MB is enough for 50-60 epochs or 225-270 days, if the start of the sale is in March- April, then this is still at least 100-120 days
What's the point of paying for a $ 12,000 ASIC that will be relevant for less than 6 months?

I believe its real, now we are finally started to see people were mining 2 years ago, most scary part is what they are secretly using right now? many asics are awaiting for 4gb ends so new asics will join in. Ethereum should kick these asics away but they dont. Asic only profitable if you are manufacturing it otherwise you will make little money if you are lucky, who wins? = people who sold it to you.

The consensus on algo change for eth is gone, they are focusing on eth 2.0, they dont care about asics and so on because asics are helping to bring the hashrate and diversify the network, so as long asics are helping the network, eth team will not move an inch against it, also, as eth mining will die in 2 or 3 years and price of it is good at moment, forget about anything that will bring uncertainty or questionable actions to it. If they have not done anything for the past 3 years or bearrun, dont see they doing anything on bullrun.

I would stay away from mining till you understand more what is going on and then you decide your fate, buying this on a whim will not help, at least gpus can be resold but at current gpu prices, resellers are scamming you too with gpus, I would buy coins like eth and or btc and nothing else at the moment.

this miner is not a scam in the sense it exists but is a scam in the sense if they decided to sell to people, that price you will pay for it, will not get it back to you, bitmain and co have had miners like this one since 2018 but they never made it public. They always try to scam people on the bullrun, price of cryptocoins will still keep rising to a point where everything is bs, right now i dont see too many scams or bs around yet, so buying pressure will still go on, expect eth around 2k ~ 10k in next few months. This miner even if they sell to you in the next 3 to 6 months, eth mining will die in 2 years or so, question is when the beartime will hit again, as long as governments are printing money no stopping then ethereum and btc will keep rising.

That's dope if it's real  Huh, Damn I'm jealous already, can you please provide the link to the official website or source? All I can see here is just a video and pictures, that's too limited information, I do hope it's real, I will definitely buy if it is.

Why would they sell them if they exist?

Why not? If they sell it for horrible prices like bitmain and other ASIC manufacturer do.
Innosilicon Ethash miner cost over 5000$.
Bitmain Cryptonight Asic first batch cost over 10000$ and never touch the roi.

If they sell them, they get this money now, and not over time. Not so risky for the manufacturer.

It makes sense to sell it.
But we know this one is no real.
