Found a picture of a 10 Blade setup on a backplane, seems like each blade requires it's own ethernet cable to be run to it.

Answer added to OP, incase anyone else has similar questions.

I've searched around, but I'm not having a huge amount of success with answering some of these questions.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

NOTE:  All questions pertain to Version 2 Blades/Backplane.

  • 1)  Can any PSU that uses the same Proliant ML350 ML370 and DL380 G5 Server connections be used with a backplane?

  • 2)  What's the draw per blade?  I've read as little as 60w and as high as 90w from various sources.  Conventional wisdom says 32x2.5w=80w, but that doesn't leave headroom for the other hardware on the board.

  • 3)  I've read that using an ATX power supply is compatible, but I haven't seen exactly how to connect one.  Will I be able to make my own molex to feed the backplane?

  • 4)  Are there any molex or other ports on the backplane that allow for the connection of fans?

  • 5)  What does the bottom of the backplane look like?  Are there solder points/connection exposed?  Does this need to sit on a non-conductive surface?

  • 6)  Q:  Do I need to run ethernet to each blade? or just one to the backplane?
A:  Each blade needs it's own ethernet cable ran to it.
