But mom, if the bets of bitcoin are in favor of it coming this year, then it just has to be true!

Yes. If you think of it like business person, BFL will try their hardest to release ASIC before the reward halving occurs (Dec 9), to attract more potential buyers.
But of course, if you have your own agenda, biased or hate BFL so much for their previous treatment to you, you'll instantly vote No in this poll.
Actually, if you are a dreamer, and have faith in a company that was previously wrong, then you'll vote yes. If you're a realist who sees the entire situation as it is, then you'll vote no.

I think you're the one being dreamer there.

BFL has enormous incentive to convince customers (and themselves) that they will be the first ASIC to hit the market. They know they make bank on preorders. With that in mind, October is probably pretty early. When their product is finally released, they will continue to sell to those who waited it out, as long as the product is good. The preorder crowd will be disappointed, but their money is already locked down. I would surprised, impressed, and excited if the preorders are filled before the big day.

i voted "maybe" although i'm pretty optimistic it could happen this year

disregarding previous BFL's delivery track record, given that BitForce SC chip is only in final development stage there's great potential that shipping out ASIC powered gear could be severely delayed into the next year
Where did you get this information? I'm having a hard time finding anything official from BFL.

EDIT: Just to clarify: I'm having a hard time finding anything official with regards to development progress.

Taken straight from their site here: http://www.butterflylabs.com/products/

I voted "no" but think "yes"

I think we will see some sort of ASIC like stuff pop up this year but sure as hell not wit the specifications BFL claimed.

No. For any given time of release/shipment quote BFL gives, you must add ~66.6%.

Delivery: Units are shipped within four to six weeks from the date of purchase.
However, your delivery time may be significantly less depending on the production group your order falls in.

Well, they started the first sentence of their press release with a complete lie: Butterfly Labs (BF Labs Inc.), a market leader in microprocessor design ...

What makes you people think that the remainder is any more accurate?

It was mentioned in another thread, but I'll mention it again in here as to why I chose "no."

When BFL came out with the singles, the only technology they designed and manufactured in house was the power circuitry. When it came time to release, which parts were insufficient to run the device? The power circuitry. In fact, their specifications were off by a factor of 4 and required a total rework.

Now you're probably thinking, "They've learned their lesson and won't make the same mistakes twice!" And that may be true, but now BFL is not just designing and manufacturing the power circuitry. If there is some kind of issue with the ASIC chips, a respin will be required. If that respin changes other specifications, then more work will have to be done in order to make the device functional. The fact that this company is now developing a process and technology that they have never delved into before just brings up potential issues to me.
